Shamrock Rovers host Bohemians tonight at Tallaght Stadium in a crucial 6-pointer. The title race in Ireland is the most thrilling it’s been in years with 3 Dublin sides all vying for the top spot with only 4 games left. 2 of them do battle tonight. Champions Rovers currently sit top on 62 points, 3 ahead of St Pats in 2nd and tonight’s opponents in 3rd. A win for the Hoops all but ends Bohs title aspirations, as they would have to make up 6 points in 3 games. A draw would also put it out of their hands, but you wouldn’t write them off given the fact they play Pats on the final day, paired with Rovers recent inconsistency. A win for Bohs leapfrogs them from 3rd to 1st on goal difference, although Pats would have a game in hand. Win that, and all 3 teams would be level on points with 3 games to go. Rovers seem to have put their bad spell behind them, returning to the summit with a comfortable 3-1 win against relegation candidates Drogheda United on Thursday. Bohs will be looking to forget their last outing, which was a shock 2-0 home defeat to relegation candidates Waterford in the FAI Cup semifinal on Friday. In terms of team news, there are no new injury concerns for Rovers. Danny Grant is available to make his return against his old club. Team news for Bohemians is unknown due to the clubs media blackout in protest of Rovers game in hand against Drogheda last week being rescheduled from Friday to Thursday night, arguing the change allowed their title rivals an unfair advantage by giving them more time to rest. The sides have played 3 times already this season. In February, Bohs came out on top 3-2 at Dalymount Park in February after a late scare that saw Rovers score twice in second half stoppage time. Rovers won both subsequent fixtures 2-1, thanks to a Graham Burke double in April and a 95th minute Enda Stevens winner in May. It’s all to play for at Tallaght Stadium. Don’t miss it!
