Ireland aim for Hot Start after Czech Heartbreak in World Cup Play-Offs
Republic of Ireland will travel to the Stadiumi Fadil Vokrri on Thursday to get both Kosovo and theirs Nations League B campaign underway.
Kosovo will look to bounce off of their Andorra result in June where they smashed them 3-0. Prior to that game it was a trip to a "common enemy" for Kosovo and Ireland where they travelled to Czechia but would lose 2-1.
Kosovo have three potential maiden caps for Thursdays game, Castellón's Amir Saipi, Split's Raçi and Płock's Gallapeni. Key exclusions include: Amir Rrahmani, Hadergjonaj, Aliti and former Norwich winger, Milot Rashica.
ROI are coming into this one after taking advantage of the end of the club season by playing an additional match prior to Kosovo's Czechia tie. Both Ireland and Grenada made the trip to Spain to face-off for a friendly. Ireland would walk away 5-0 victors. The other two games afterwards would ve against World Cup sides Qatar and Canada. Ireland walked away with a 1-0 victory over the Asian nation and from North America with a 1-1 draw.
For the Emerald Isle, their potential maiden cappers are, Sheffield United's Liam Kitching, Cardiff's Joel Bagan and Hibs' Owen Elding. Key players out due to injury include: Evan Ferguson, Josh Cullen, Mikey Johnston and Jack Taylor, and despite injury problems, QPR's Jimmy Dunne has made it onto Heimir's squad.
This is the first EVER clash between Kosovo and Ireland on the pitch and it's sure to be a fiesty one.
Kosovo 1-0 Rep. Of Ireland was played in the League B - 1 of Nations League 2026/27. Kosovo sit 2nd in the table, while Rep. Of Ireland sit 3rd.
