Auriazules take on La Fierra en la Capital
Originally scheduled for Sunday, September 6th, Pumas UNAM welcome Club León at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.
Since being promoted back to Mexico’s top tier division in 2012, Pumas and León have met 31 times in official regular season match-ups. Los Universitarios lead the head-to-head match-ups with 12 wins, while La Fiera is right behind them with 11 wins. They share 8 draws and, as of now, also share 42 goals a piece. About as neck-and-neck as you can get.
León are coming into this game with a great run of form and their confidence high after beating Club América 1-0 in the Leagues Cup for 3rd place and securing a spot in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. With the Colombian duo consisting of Arcila and Cambindo having combined 15 goals/assists across both La Apertura and the Leagues Cup. They will be looking to add more to their tally.
Pumas, on the other hand, haven’t won a game since match day 3, netting 5 past Juárez. Don’t count them out just yet, with a 2-1 win over Toluca the match before shows they have what it takes to put up a fight! Juninho, their leading goal scorer, has 3 goals, and his fellow teammate Robert Morales has 3 assists; those two will be eyeing each other trying to break down this tough León defense.
Both teams are in need of the 3 points to better their odds for a top 8 spot and reach the playoffs. Can León tie up the head-to-head record and keep up their run of form, or will Pumas finally get back on track and better their chances for a top 8 finish? We will find out starting at 9:05 p.m. local time in CDMX.
U.N.A.M. - Pumas 3-1 Leon was played in the Apertura - 7 of Liga MX 2026/27. U.N.A.M. - Pumas sit 7th in the table, while Leon sit 10th.
