Liga MX promises us another thriller after a weekend of madness last week. Two inconsistent sides meet tonight, with Pachuca travelling to Nuevo León to take on hosting Monterrey. After Rayados' disappointing 2-0 Leagues Cup final loss to Toluca, they haven't been able to rekindle the same impressive form they had beforehand. Only one win in their last four leaves them slumped in 12th place, two points away from the current Liguilla threshold. Nonetheless, Monterrey have a game in hand and will be looking to make things right with a win at home. Two Rayados players are faced with knocks that may hinder their chances at a Starting XI spot, in Stefan Medina and Djuka. Five players are also at risk of suspension with a yellow card - Carlos Salcedo, Ricardo Chávez, Alonso Aceves, Óliver Torres and César Garza all running the tightrope. Pachuca have been arguably very fortunate as of recent, which comes down to one man, Salomón Rondón. Twelve goals in eleven games for the Venezuelan puts him top of the scoring charts in Liga MX, four clear of Pumas' Juninho in second. The goalscoring machine grabbed a late brace in a dramatic comeback for Los Tuzos, where they levelled the tie from 1-3 down. However, manager Benjamín Mora cannot keep relying on Rondón to dig his side out of holes, with the Venezuelan scoring an incredible 60% of Pachuca's goals this season. While impressive, it also shows a lack of squad contribution, which is extremely important in football. Mora has already been under pressure due to inconsistency within the league, where Pachuca have been hovering outside Liguilla for a while, seemingly unable to cross the line. Mora has a huge test tonight, a result here will leapfrog Monterrey and put Pachuca in 8th, at least until Tuesday night. Los Tuzos remain without Andrés Arroyo and Alexei Domínguez due to injury, with Kenedy being assessed for a return. Francisco Venegas picked up a suspension for too many yellow cards, so will not feature in this matchup. Pachuca have won four of their last five matches against Monterrey in Liga MX. Monterrey's last home win against Pachuca came in February 2024 in a 3-2 thriller. The first ever meeting between the two sides came in July 1967, where Pachuca were victorious in a 2-1 win.

Monterrey 2-1 Pachuca was played in the Apertura - 12 of Liga MX 2026/27. Monterrey sit 12th in the table, while CF Pachuca sit 14th.
