O’Neil’s newly promoted Ipswich has had a strong start to their Carabao cup journey, beating league one side Leicester City 3-1 compared to their last campaign start being a first game loss on penalties against Bromley. This year they start off fresh after their promotion with a decent start to their premier league season including a 2-1 win against Sunderland despite their recent crushing defeats against two of the big six, Man united and Liverpool. The gunners on the other hand play their first Carabao cup since their appearance in the final which ended in a 2-0 loss against Manchester City. This time the English giants start their journey eager to get their hands on more silverware after the taste of last season. Mikel Arteta’s side has looked very dominant since the addition of their “Mykonos Messi” Christos Tzolis and their captain Martin Ødegaard leading his team to play at a high-level and being one of their top scorers so far since his 25/26 campaign failed to evince his quality. Despite their defensive absentees Saliba and Timber, Arteta has not let go of his team’s ‘best defense’ promise as he managed to find solace in former Villa defender Ezri Konsa and Calafiori. The new centre-back has proved his position among the gunners by securing prominent results against Italian side Napoli and English rivals Chelsea. The Ipswich blues, although, have been struggling to repair the holes in their defence as they have failed to secure a clean sheet in any of their previous games and conceded 10 goals so far with 8 in their opening three premier league matches, statistically their worst start to the campaign since the 1964/65 season and 2 against palace despite managing to collect their first 3 points away from home. Besides their defensive gaps, Ipswich’s attack offers a few players to keep an eye on like their striker Emersonn who, despite not playing a full 90 so far this season, secured 2 goals and one assist with majority coming from their recent opponents Crystal Palace. Paraguayan midfielder Julio Enciso is also a prominent player that comes to mind when analyzing the Ipswich attack who has contributed with 2 assists and promising ratings. Zian Flemming, their new signing from relegated side Burnley was also one of their recent goal scorers coming on vs palace at the 63rd minute. Although the Dutchman was a notable player against Arsenal last season but for the wrong reasons. The game seems to be highly in favour of the North Londoners considering their 100% success rate this season but can the tractor boys be a challenging opponent or will they be taken as a rest for Arsenal’s starters?
