sundowns, much to the disappointment of most, dominated the game. the south africans controlled possession, created more chances, won defensive duels, and looked like the better team. it’s not hard to understand why so many people were rooting for them. one thing I appreciated about sundowns was their willingness to seize almost every opportunity to shoot. the after the second santos header it was pretty much clear the game was over al-ahli, on the other hand, disappointed in a lot of areas. for being such high stakes, this was an unfortunate match for the stadium to be packed to the brim in yellow. I will say, for a team that had an almost equal number of touches in the box, it was frustrating to see them create so little from those opportunities. after equalizing at ‘19, the rest of the match was fairly uneventful. between the blocked shot after blocked shot and a couple close-range attempts that were saved, i was just glad to be a neutral viewer of the game because otherwise this would have ruined my day

‏حسبي الله ونعم الوكيل وكفى.. ‏من يوم كنت صغير وأنا أعرف إننا نشجع عشان نفرح بالفوز ونحلم بالبطولات، ونتقبل الخسارة مهما كانت موجعة. ‏لكن لما تكون إدارة ناديك بعيدة عنك، ما تلقى منها جواب ولا تحس إن صوت الجمهور يهمها، تبدأ تتساءل: ‏هل طموحنا واحد أصلًا؟ ‏يكون عندك يايسله، اللي لقبناه بسيد مدربي آسيا، ويرحل بهالطريقة ويكون عندك لاعبان بقيمة محرز وكيسيه، ويرحلون أيضًا ‏وإلى اليوم لا يوجد جواب واضح: ‏ليش حصل كل هذا؟ ‏وكيف كانت هذه القرارات تخدم الأهلي؟ ‏اللاعبون اليوم كثير منهم كانوا صاملين ويبغون الفوز، ووجعي مو منهم ولا من خسارة مباراة ‏وجعي إني صرت أحس أن النادي يمشي في اتجاه ما أفهمه، وأنا كمشجع كل اللي أبيه أشوف فريقي ينافس ويحصد البطولات. ‏هذه ما عادت كرة القدم اللي عرفتها وعشقتها منذ الصغر وإذا ما عاد لنا فيها إلا نتفرج بلا فهم ولا جواب… ‏فلنتركها لهم ‏فعلًا، فلنتركها لهم.
