Another season of Champions League action gets underway as Real Madrid take on Inter Milan in a heavyweight clash at the Bernabeu. Both teams will be looking to get off to a winning start after narrowly missing out on automatic round of 16 qualification last year, finishing 9th and 10th in the league phase respectively. Both were just a point shy of the top 8, and will be looking to rectify that this campaign. José Mourinho facing the club where he last won the Champions League in 2010 will be the main storyline heading into this one. The Portugese coach left I Nerazzurri shortly after that triumph for his first spell with Los Blancos. Can he get one over on his old side? Or will Cristiano Chivu’s men give him a receipt for walking away all those years ago? Will there be anything to seperate these 2 giants at all? We’ll find out Tuesday night! In terms of form, the home side will be looking to get back to winning ways after their perfect start to the La Liga campaign was disrupted on Friday by Troy Parrott and Real Betis. Inter have won 3/3 Serie A matches so far and will be looking to keep up their strong momentum, having dramatically come from 2-0 down to beat rivals Napoli 3-2 on Saturday. Players to watch will surely be the strikers. The ever reliable Kylian Mbappé already has 4 goals in as many appearances this season, and Lautaro Martinez spearheaded Saturday’s Napoli comeback with a brace. This one promises to be a cracker! Don’t miss it!

Real Madrid 2-1 Inter was played on matchday 1 of Champions League 2026/27. Real Madrid sit 14th in the table, while Inter sit 25th.
