Honduras Travel to Kingston in Need of Points to Stay Alive in the Competition
It’s matchday 2 of the 2026/27 Concacaf Nations League as Jamaica host Honduras at Independence Park in Kingston. Each side is coming off a match with a similar scoreline but a different result.
Jamaica started their Concacaf Nations League campaign on the right foot with a dramatic 3-2 win at home over Guatemala. It took the Guatemalans two minutes to score the opener, thanks to Óscar Santis. Kasey Palmer equalized just before halftime, and early in the second half, Rumen Burrell put the Reggae Boyz ahead before Santis scored his second of the night to level the match. Just when everyone thought the match would end in a 2-2 draw, Renaldo Cephas scored the winner in stoppage time, giving Jamaica all three points.
Honduras, on the other hand, didn't start their Concacaf Nations League campaign the way they wanted. Los Catrachos started their run with a 2-3 defeat at home against Suriname. The thrilling first half began with Suriname scoring the opener, before Honduras equalized two minutes later through Dereck Moncada. Three minutes after that, a goal from Bryan Sánchez put Honduras ahead 2-1, but the lead didn't last until halftime, as Denzel Jubitana leveled the match. The second half brought just one goal, an own goal from Honduran Luis Palma, which ended up being the decider. Spanish manager José Francisco Molina has now managed the team in three matches and has yet to register a win, with one draw and two losses.
This match will be a big one in determining which teams advance past the group stage. A win would be huge for Jamaica, who would have won both of their home matches before playing their next two away from home, and six points would put them in contention to advance. As for Honduras, a win is needed to stay alive in the competition, while a loss would make advancing a real challenge.
Jamaica 0-1 Honduras was played in the League A - 2 of CONCACAF Nations League 2025/26.
