Wonderful game, a personal favorite from this World Cup I watched the entire first half with my family They saw it was an interesting and exciting game with two top class teams but i guess the lack of goals made it so that by the time the referee blew the whistle to start the second half i found myself watching the game alone while everyone went to sleep And what a second half it was, they truly missed out My notes to accompany my Holland player ratings: Verbruggen: not much he could do on both goals, does get a touch on the second but still difficult, seemed confident on the ball tho Dumfries: did he even do anything? played a full 90' was invisible Van Dijk: always a strong presence, got his goal but his defending on Japan's second wasn't the best this performance was way more Van Dijk-esque than what he was displaying this season Van Hecke: seems trustworthy, handled tricky situations well, was getting pretty involved all game, good partner for Virgil, great line breaking passes one of which was crucial for the build up of a goal Van de Ven: wow how is this guy that good at LB not a single mistake comes to mind running up and down the pitch all game elite defensively as usual and does the job very well on the attack Frenkie: 69/73 accurate passes (95%) 15 passes into final third disposessed 0 times would trust him to drive my car blindfolded Gravenberch: easy perfect rating assisted both goals and his partnership with De Jong was elite good dribbling and attack involvement Reijnders: only realized he was playing halfway through the first half Gakpo: i'm usually first in line to slander him but he was pretty good today drove to the line a bit too often but made it work a few times no involvement in the goals but i realized every ball he recieves ends up being dangerous Malen: very mid not the level he showed this season at Roma his stats are alright he was very involved in the opposition box with touches Sumerville: very dynamic, great runs, good goal
