Really disappointed with how unfit Chelsea looked, Palmer and Pedro got nothing on Mahrez and Vardy. Arsenal will be fine, Ødegaard looks like an early POTY contender, plus what a life to either have White unlocking your attack, or Timber to lock up the defense.

looking forward to timber back. supposedly by next week, this match came a bit too early
@tligoat Intrigued to see you in Naples midweek. I was thinking sheesh what a fixture but they’ve just come off a slap in the back by Inter’s comeback, and a pretty poor summer window. I think it will be easier than it once looked. My instinct is Arteta tells Gyok Eze and Madueke, “go and win yourself a spot in my XI”…but I’ll be more interested in seeing the Zubi Bruno G combo. It’s good for the league to see Øde balling this hard, we need mavericks in this league.
@rafadinhoforlahm gyok looked fairly poor based on the minutes that he had today. still reserving any judgment on him right now, but i’ve been of the opinion that when havertz is fit, he is our best striker (even if gyok was our top scorer last year) i’m hopeful that bruno G will unlock runners like noni and gyok (players that thrive in the transition) due to his ability to produce linebreakers, while also allowing eze to play with freedom due to his ability to win duels and playmake from deep
@tligoat fully agree with you: i think napoli will be the game that arteta takes his chance to experiment different combinations that our depth allows us. if i had to guess our midfield, it’d be eze, mls, and bruno, with gyok hopefully up top to give havertz a rest. on your side, i’m equally as interested in iraola’s first game at athelti. will be a very big test for you and i want to see if he’s a manager who can do it on the bigger stages.
@tligoat Yeah, Berta lost his rep with that one, I forget who Arteta wanted, but it’s clear Gyok is your guy for European high lines and not much else. He looks like he pooped his pants anytime he dribbles, and I think your season depends on Havertz being fit. I’d have Merino over Gyok at this point. Bruno G can help Madueke, I don’t think even prime Cryuff can help the Swedish bodybuilder.
@rafadinhoforlahm we wanted sesko 😭 definitely would have been more of a raw talent but i think he suits our club better
@tligoat Yeah, he’d be a better foil to Havertz. Really the ideal piece was Ekitike, a literal Thierry regen.
@tligoat I feel like Fulham will be the bigger test since we almost had a week between Ipswich and Atletico. Kind of bored with the fact it’s just a Spanish team Iraola has already faced, but he’s never beaten Simeone so it could be interesting. We had a favorable UCL draw so a draw wouldn’t be the worst result, but I have faith we’ll get a really tight win since we really need any momentum at this point.
