Man. I don’t even know where to begin. This is one of those moments that you know is going to come but you’re never ready for. I hate sounding parasocial, but it really does feel like losing someone close. I’m not argentinian, but seeing you play and win filled me with joy. Those wins with barça brought so much joy to me growing up seeing some of the most beautiful football being played. All the ups and downs with the national team, it felt like seeing a hero slowly build up and finally get their happy ending. If this is how it feels now when you’ve just left international football, I don’t want to know how it’s going to feel when you retire completely. That little boy from rosario, the GOAT, pessi (with love). You were truly something special, not just for argentina or barcelona but for anyone who enjoys this sport. Thank you messi. Gracias por ser el mejor de todos los tiempos.
