The kind of match stats and after-the-fact storytelling don't do justice... you just had to be there. A genuine real life FIFA match where no amount of good defending could match the display of pure, mercurial attacking talent on show from both sides. A match which was both tactical and emotional, technical and athletic, high-intensity and well-manoeuvred, clinical and wasteful, aesthetic and dogged, but most of all characterised by electric transitions and supreme finishing. Certainly not one for the keepers (9 goals and only two saves combined) or the high-line (just 3 offsides called in total), but one for individual talent, brilliant line-breaking passes and 1v1 duels all over the pitch. Musiala was probably the only offensive player to not really affect the game all that much, but everyone else has a claim for MOTM. I'd also like to highlight the spotless performance of referee Sandro Shaerer. Can't wait for Atleti-Arsenal tomorrow night to bring us all back down to Earth....
