Such a chaotic game that I liked it somehow, first half was pure Dortmund domination but I mostly blame it on Thilo Kehrer starting,he was still pretty young and the continuous attacks from Dortmund really overwhelmed him but once he got subbed off in the second half for a more experienced and physical defender like Nastasić ,the game changed fast.I liked how much Schalke's rhythm changed in the second half and how much more of the ball they gained compared to their first half.In Dortmund's side I want to talk about Aubameyang who was so lethal in first half, had 2 goal contributions and pressed so much on Schalke's defence,my only concern with him was the obvious red card, pretty careless with getting the second yellow and also the drop in finishing in the second half,I genuinely think he could've scored another goal in second half if he had better decision making,Dortmund's attacking options really got nullified when Aubameyang got sent out since Gotze got injured shortly after and Yarmolenko didn't really impress me,somebody else who impressed me at Dortmund was Guerreiro, probably the best player on Dortmund's side since he was so electric going forward and I really liked his high intensity on the right plank.Nobody else was good maybe except Nuri Şahin who completed a lot of passes and Sokratis who really wasn't helped by the 2 other defenders but still put up a manageable game. Into Schalke's side,Konoplyanka was so good on the ball and was a huge attacking threat in the second half,a joy watching him have Toprak on his strings.Stambouli and Naldo were also so good this game,Naldo was very dangerous in set pieces, scoring 2 goals, one being disallowed and also being aggressive in his own half and Stambouli linking up with Caligiuri and holding off Gotze.Talking about Caligiuri,I think he was the best player on the pitch, dribbled, completed crosses and scored that beauty of a goal,Schmelzer got wasted,my MOTM goes to him.Shotout to @zitouna for the recommendation.
