A starstruck referee and a clinical West Ham combined to deny Swansea all three points today. Stylistically, the clash was stark. The Swans' swift, freeflowing football pitted against West Ham's crash tackles and direct long balls. In a classic beauty-and-the-beast battle, the beast’s raw doggedness prevailed by the finest of margins. Ultimately, it was a frustrating day for the Swans. Unconverted chances and missed passes proved costly as crucial points slipped away.
