with this match, we qualified for the world cup for the first time in 24 years and what a match it was man. for the match itself, it was a really close match. both teams were basically on the same level and it could've gone either way. when kerem scored that first goal, i was really really happy. the rest of the match was even more closely contested. both had so many chances, but especially kosovo in the last few minutes which uğurcan çakır was able to save amazingly. then, the final whistle came and after a long long fight, it was actually real; turkey had really qualified for the world cup. i legitimately couldn't contain my happiness and literally ran around my apartment with my turkey flag celebrating 😭 after we had already gone far in the euros 2024, i really thought we could now show the world what we had. i thought we could go somewhat far in the tournament because on paper, we did look like the strongest team in our group. sadly, that didn't happen. even though it was just a few months ago, it really is still amazing to look back on this match and it's sad to think of what actually could've been if we had actually done something good at the world cup. the match gets 5 stars for its significance and the memories, not for how it went. i will honestly never, ever forget this match and it will forever be one of my favorite memories, even if i watched it alone at home on my laptop.
