Sheffield Utd
Tottenhamthe international break is boring me already, so here’s a review from one of my all-time favourite matches i’ve been known to complain about my club a lot but, as cringy as it sounds, they’ve honestly saved me during certain times of my life at this point in 2023, i was on the brink of losing my job due to severe burnout, mental health difficulties and failing to meet the demands from my employer. i could sense it was coming from meetings with my manager, i just didn’t know when the day would come (it ended up being a little over a week later) i wasn’t sure if i had the energy to attend this match, knowing i would be in the office the next day, but with a bit of encouragement from my dad i did in the end. there was a small amount of hope in me that we could get a result that night, remembering our incredible cup run in the 2013/2014 season. however, as time was ticking, i found myself saying to my dad “spurs will get a last minute goal” repeatedly turns out i was very wrong. a goal from our starboy ndiaye would send us to the quarter-finals (another match up there as one of my favourites) i’m not usually one to take photos/videos during matches, but as the chants echoed out across the stadium, the worries of my unstable work life went away temporarily i often look back at this video knowing how unstable my mental wellbeing was and how far i’ve come since. it was also a reminder that, although very cliché, everything was going to be okay. i might not have believed it back then, but i got through this difficult time regardless, and i have sheffield united to thank for that
