the match before our promotion match and what a match it was... the first half had started off with darmstadt being more present but we did eventually score our first goal by a corner kick, which was our first shot on target of the match; which in itself was ironic because darmstadt had more shots on target but we scored the first goal. after that, nothing much had happened in the first half. the real action then began in the second half.. what a beautiful second half it was. first there was the beautiful goal from ransdorf königsdörffer and then also the goals from selke & glatzel in the last ten minutes. and so, we won 4-0 against a team we usually would draw against in the most beautiful and hamburg way possible. even though we didn't really have the ball possession, we still did most of it and it really reflects that in the scoreline. with this match, it really felt like this squad was THE squad that would finally get promoted and bring this club and the city of hamburg back to where it's supposed to be, which is the top flight. after so many years, where hopes and dreams were ultimately broken because the final step just couldn't be made, this squad completely avoided that by always showing resilience and just never giving up. truly an unforgettable match, something a hamburg fan should never ever forget because this one really kick started the hope again and this time year around, there wouldn't be a fumble.
