Good result for Burnley. I think it was clear to see from minute 1 that Boro were the favourites tonight. They started much quicker than Burnley and almost went in front from a direct long ball by goalkeeper vitek who found Lankshear who unfortunately narrowly missed. Having had multiple poor results as of late + losing a key player in Zian Flemming to Ipswich on Deadline day without a replacement, morale at Burnley would’ve been low, which certainly reflected on their first half performance. Boro took a deserved lead when midfield engine Aidan Morris lashed one in first time from outside the box in front of the travelling fans, an absolutely blinding strike. He came close again as he struck the post soon after, as well as this Will Lankshear had his moments in the first half and some would argue Boro should have been in front by more than 1 at the break. However, credit to Burnley they came out second half and showed some real spirit. Just 9 minutes after the restart Ugo Raghouber matched Aidan Morris’ first half strike with a wonderfully guided effort. From here on in the game never really caught momentum and it ended in an eventual draw. What I will say is I worry for Burnley this season in the championship. With the squad they currently possess having lost multiple key players, it’s hard to see how they challenge for promotion this season, and in my opinion I don’t believe they will make the play offs. Onto Boro, they’ve got a lot of stick over the past few years for sniffing around the automatic promotion places and falling short when it matters. However, I have real believe in this Boro side. They have leadership in Ayling, an excellent midfield consisting of Morris and Berhalter and a proper bagsman in Lankshear, I personally believe they have more than enough to be automatically promoted this season. Overall, a half decent match and a good point for Burnley, however not the end of the world for Boro.
