Botswana and Tunisia look to bounce back after disappointing draws

Botswana threw it away late in Libya, having gone 0-2 up it looked as they would take all three points with them despite being dominated for much of the game, but with a 87th minute goal followed by an 96th minute penalty saw Libya fight back to a draw. Though they aren’t the favourites against the Tunisians they will be trying to get a result as they aim to qualify for the AFCON tournament for the third time in their history and second time in a row. Tunisia, meanwhile, drew against Uganda at home in a game they will feel they should have won. It was a debut to forget for new manager Mouine Chaâbani, who took over following poor performances at the World Cup and after Hervé Renard left after just two games. Tunisia are expected to challenge for top spot in the group, but their recent results and performances suggest that the race could be more open than initially expected. Botswana will therefore see an opportunity to take advantage of Tunisia’s uncertain start.

Tunisia 2-2 Botswana was played on matchday 2 of Africa Cup of Nations - Qualification 2027. Tunisia sit 3rd in the table, while Botswana sit 2nd.
