Theres like almost nothing else to life than football. I make pretty long reviews for no reason other than addiction to writing about football.

Despite Switzerland being a incredibly boring country to me i was quite excited for this game as it really felt like a 55/45 type game. Gotta say i was disappointed by the first half though, just not enough happening really besides the goal. But what a goal it was, great assist from Manzambi and Embolo had a easy goal from there. What a player Manzambi is, so so so excited for his future, hopefully he makes a intelligent transfer instead of going for the biggest bag of money. What a way to start the second half though to score within a minute. Great goal from Ndoye. Algeria just making too many mistakes and they get punished for it. Absolutely shocking miss from Rieder, how that didnt go in is just insane. Its mostly just a boring game though with not too much happening. Switzerland have finally won a knockout game again on the World Cup, last time was in 1938 so this is incredible for them. Embolo the first Swiss player to score multiple goals on two different World Cup tournaments so thats pretty cool. Man of the match is Denis Zakaria for me, very good defensively and also created a big chance, just a great game from him. Much shorter than last review but a lot less happened, and i’m tired lmao. (I say much shorter but it still ended up being 1300 characters)

Extremely dominant Mexico in the first half, Ecuador had some chances but couldn’t deal with the constant attacks. Two brilliant goals from Quiñones and Jiménez. Second half a lot slower and more of a low block from Mexico, which was done pretty well. Just played it to the final whistle comfortably. Not really too much to say for that second half lmao the most interesting thing was Hincapié getting a red for covering his mouth. Ecuador really played awful, not what im used of them at all. Super disappointing display all game. Gilberto Mora became the youngest player to start a knockout game since Pele, i think thats a good sign for the kid. Played a great game as well. Also wanna go into the next game with England as likely opponent because some certain Mexicans in chat didn’t like my opinion without debating the tactical aspect of the game (sad times). I believe Mexico will be fully exposed in this game. The games where England have struggled were against low blocks. When playing a adventurous Croatia — they were completely dominated on every part of the pitch by England. If Mexico defend with their lives they could pull through, but its at the Azteca, there is absolutely no way Mexico will change their way of playing. Englands midfield is so much better, best player in the world as striker, elite attackers. It could be a massacre. Mexico did show today they can do a low block but thats against a side that is much weaker offensively, and when already 2-0 up. That likely wont happen to England. Man of the match Quiñones, goal and a assist to send Mexico to the round of 16.

Not too much happened first half, Côte d’Ivoire was more dangerous but a absolute beauty from Nusa gave Norway the lead. Haaland really shouldve had a goal too. Ødegaard the 3rd player ever to get a assist in each of his first three World Cup appearances, and also the first since Kuyt in 2010 to get assists 3 games in a row. Hes such a good player. Second half started the same pretty much, with a huge chance from Pépé to equalize but couldn’t get it around Nyland. Another insane goal in the second half this time from Amad Diallo, brilliant dribble and great one two with Pépé. But of course Haaland scores, incredible pre assist from Bobb, and a good assist as well from Berg. Almost a last minute equalizer too from Amad Diallo from a free kick but a incredible save from Nyland. Fastest player ever to reach 60 international goals. 2nd player to score in his first three World Cup games. 5 goals in 3 World Cup Games, 60 goals in 53 Norway caps. Same amount of goals as Mbappe in 48 fewer caps lmao. Haaland stuff. All in all not too exciting of a game but 3 great goals which made it very enjoyable. Great for the Norwegians, lovely to see all the emotion from Alf-Inge Haaland too Norway - Brazil will feed generations, super excited for that. Man of the match for me is Ajer, whicb maybe is surprising? Idk. Played a great game in defense, lots of defcon, good passing accuracy.

England2–1Congo DR

Insane start for DR Congo, don’t think Spence was to blame as he had to cover the central area too. Also a shot PIckford NEEDS to save. Awful goalkeeping. Big chance later in the game too for Wissa but against the post. Referee is shambolic, two moments where England shouldve had a penalty, one moment for sure. Very very weird its not given or even reviewed properly. Low block was quite something from DR Congo, worked well against this England side. So many saves from Mpazi though, England had 1.31 xG in the first half and some insane saves stopped England from scoring. Second half was practically the same untul hydration break, GOD BLESS HYDRATION BREAKS, it actually made the game more fun!! Again! This is exactly why i like them because it completely changed the game and England became a new team. Gordon was a huge difference, while Rice at right back is honestly a great option. Two assists for Gordon, two goals for Kane. More goals than Pele now for good old Harry, what a striker, what a player, best in the world right now. Mexico - England at Azteca will be a sight to behold, so excited. Man of the match for me is between Rice and Kane, after thinking about it i think im still giving it to Rice because of his consistent quality throughout the game. Whereas Kane was struggling most of the game, two goals that are incredibly important but overall Rice was better this game.

Portugal2–1Croatia

First id like to say fuck Ronaldo, 2009 will not be forgotten. I would also like to say that as I’m known for my tactical analysis that Roberto Martínez is a fraud and should give his coaching licenses to me because i genuinely think i would make a better manager than him. I think the first half wasnt as bad as many people said. To me it was okay, ive seen muuuuch worse and there were some exciting moments. Cristiano Ronaldo played disappointingly as expected, but theres something beautiful yet weird about watching one of the greatest of all time to be this washed, i dont quite know how to explain that feeling because i also just really dislike him as a human so maybe that impacts some of it. He had zero touches in the box throughout the first half which for him is just disastrous, long gone are the days of him being the best in the world. Vitinha has been very disappointing too, just plays very safe but its also necessary because if he risks things than the attack will not be able to do anything useful as they are awful lmao. A super defensive Croatia too, not too many attacks from their side which was disappointing to see. Second half started incredible honestly, immediately some chances and who else than 37 year old Ivan Perišić scoring the opener. Most goals on World Cups now for Croatia. Almost a insane equalizer from Rafael Leão right after, im a huge hater so seeing how he hit that woodwork made me a bit nervous lmao. What a hit though. Ronaldo finally scoring a knockout goal! But it was offside, brilliant goal if he timed that run better. He got his knockout goal anyway though, not the best pen he has taken but it went in anyway. 100% pen too, no way around it. With that he becomes the oldest goalscorer in World Cup knockouts at 41 years and 147 days. Another fun fact i saw was two of the 7 oldest goalscorers scoring within 15 minutes of each other. Also as many international tournament goals as Ronaldo Nazario now with 25. More in comments

Scotland0–1Morocco

Giving it two stars mostly for the first half to be honest. Second half was rough. Game started off well, high intensity and a very quick banger from Saibari, very satisfying how the ball got stuck for a little bit in the top corner. Took a bit for Scotland to get going but late in the first half they got chances, which sadly stopped as soon as the second half started. Took until the 80th or so before they got some chances again, so i dont know whats going on with them but they just cant get going early in the halves. Ref was on a diabolical run, FIFA needs to start employing referees who can handle high level games and who have a good reputation. Ilgiz Tantashev had 8 games in the AFC Champions League this season, and 1 game in the UAE pro league. I assume every other game in his domestic league. He didnt even do the Uzbek cup, because in the stat list im seeing his last cup game was 2025. Either couldnt handle the pressure, or was paid off. Also fuck Hakimi get that rapist off.

Brazil2–1Japan
it's a pleasure to watch the world cup, especially live at the stadium. special experience really I'm heartbroken for Japan really (except for you know who's). They defended well, counterattacked well, but Brazil had more chances and at the end they took advantage of it. Atmosphere was great. I sat behind a wall of Japan supporters and next to many Brazilian fans. Ended up supporting both teams 😭

Cape Verde Islands0–0Saudi Arabia
The opportunity was in our hands but once again we threw it away. Every tournament it’s the same mistakes the same failures. Players who don’t fight for the badge and don’t deserve to represent the national team, and a coach who refuses to make the right changes despite having better options on the bench. I honestly don’t know what else to say because we’re tired of repeating the same criticism for years and nothing ever changes. As a Saudi, I’m deeply disappointed. It hurts to watch my national team play with no passion. Smaller nations fight for every ball, give everything they have and leave the pitch with pride. Meanwhile our players don’t fight for their country and don’t fight for the fans who stand behind them every time and everywhere! Our country and our fans deserve better than this.
Senegal5–0Iraq
so out go iraq and scotland then 💔 if scotland had to get knocked out by this games winner i would’ve much preferred it was iraq but sadly that wasn’t the case. iraq have definitely got the potential to do much better in future tournaments, they just need to stop the errors in defensive. i don’t think anybody would have expected them to make it out of the group stage but to have still been in with a shot until their final group game was really impressive considering their opponents. i do think it had a lot to do with senegal playing quite poorly against both norway and france but hey thats not iraqs fault. to get put into that group in just your second ever world cup is a fate nobody should have to endure, and a group that even most teams who have a stronger world cup background wouldn’t want to be in. i have no doubts we’ll see them at another world cup in the future. on scotland now we know we’re out, 28 years since our last world cup, the first in my lifetime. people will see it as another time we’ve failed to make it out of the group stage but honestly seeing those men proudly represent the country i too am so proud to be from is one of the best feelings ever. never gave up in any of our games, even when 3-0 down to brazil. that first win against haiti made me feel a pride i’ve never felt before. even against morocco losing 1-0 we still showed fighting spirit and a grit and determination you can only admire. getting to watch my dad see his country in a world cup again and experience that with him is one of the best memories we have shared together. people may laugh at us now but what we’ve showed in this tournament showed that we aren’t willing to back down and that we have a very strong group of guys who are willing to do anything for the country. i have absolutely no doubt that we won’t need to wait another 28 years to see scotland in another world cup. we will be back.🏴🏴 genuinely started crying writing this ❤️🏴
