They’ll be looking to build on their recent two victories, though Paolo Vanoli spoke with caution in the press conference on Friday, stating Napoli are one of the favorites for the title and are a strong opponent. For Napoli, this is an early important game of the season. Allegri’s side has only gotten 6 points in the first four matches of the season, with their two losses coming against favorites for the Scudetto, Inter and Como. ‘Gli Azzurri’ are coming into this game with a tight win over Bologna (1-0) behind them, after a brilliant play that ended with Stanislav Lobotka putting it in the back of the net. The team has looked impressive defensively, but has really struggled going further up the pitch, scoring only six goals in five games this season, while conceding six as well. Historically, this specific fixture is quite even, leaning in favour of Fiorentina. In 85 official meetings Fiorentina won 39, while Napoli won 22, with the remaining 24 matches ending in a draw in Firenze. More recently it is heavily in favour of Napoli; in the last 17 meetings Fiorentina has only won once at home, that being in April 2018.
