Lazio eye Turin statement as Juventus search for consistency
Juventus welcomes Lazio to the Allianz Stadium to wrap up the Serie A action on Sunday. This is a game to mark down as one of the classic Serie A fixtures; though both teams may not have the same level as they once had, it will always be a heated encounter.
Following a win in the Europa League over Celta de Vigo, where they won it late, they have won both games in their European campaign so far. They will want to translate that to their domestic form as well as the Bianconeri sit in 7th with 11 points after six matches, having won only once in their last four Serie A matches.
Spalletti will not be in the dugout for Juventus following his red card after an altercation with Cagliari manager Fabio Pisacane. Though it is expected he will rotate his side as another European match awaits them on Thursday, while they have been hit by a number of injuries as well. Woltemade may very well get his chance again from the start, after scoring a goal last Thursday in what he called his best performance yet for the Old Lady.
Lazio remain unbeaten in the league; a lot has changed since being knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Mantova back in August. While Gattuso’s side has not yet had a statement victory, this could very well be the moment to advance on their Scudetto aspirations. If Lazio manages to win this match Gattuso would be the first Lazio manager to win six of the first seven matches. While they won’t be favourites they can put up a good fight with their slower, more professional style of play.
Tijjani Noslin was the man of the match last week following two assists; the Dutchman has been putting in important performances for the Lazio side, and he could very well be the player to hurt Juventus in this encounter. Christos Mandas can have an important role this match too; he has been one of, if not the best, goalkeepers in the Serie A, ranking in the 98th percentile or higher for multiple stats.
In 95 official meetings in Turin, the home side won 59 times, drawing 23 times, and losing to Lazio 13 times. Juventus has scored 17 consecutive times against Lazio, the last time they didn’t score dating back to 2012 (0-0).
Juventus 0-3 Lazio was played on matchday 7 of Serie A 2026/27. Juventus sit 8th in the table, while Lazio sit 2nd.
