History meets new blood as European debutants Como look to continue their winning ways against Feyenoord
Feyenoord welcomes Como to De Kuip for an exciting matchup in the second round of fixtures in the Champions League.
The club from Rotterdam started their campaign with a heavy loss at Camp Nou against Barcelona (5-1); despite the big scoreline they did look promising offensively. Since that game they won all three matches in the Eredivisie against PEC Zwolle (7-0), Utrecht (5-0), and AZ (2-0). The side, led by Giovanni van Bronckhorst, has been in incredible form, even winning all three monthly Eredivisie awards in September for the first time in its history with Anis Hadj Moussa as Player of the Month, Givairo Read as Young Player of the Month, and Giovanni van Bronckhorst as Manager of the Month. After beating the league leaders this past weekend they have also taken over first place and are still unbeaten in the league. The player to highlight is Gjivai Zechiël; the Dutch midfielder has been instrumental to the successes of Feyenoord this season. Though Valente, Ferri, Hadj Moussa, and Vanhoutte have all been important in their own right.
Como comes out of the weekend after a scoreless draw against Roma; the side led by Cesc Fàbregas was the better team, especially after Roma’s star player picked up a red card. Despite starting the season well they have now gone two games without a win, and while it’s too early to worry it could grow into a bigger issue if they don’t get a result in this game. Of course the star player is Nico Paz, but with Baturina getting some rest over the weekend he could very well step up and become another attacking threat. Having not scored in the past two games Como will have to pick up their goalscoring form from earlier in the season, while they have created chances, Fàbregas his side have not been able to convert them.
Como’s team is still young and prone to mistakes, so it will be up to Feyenoord to try and make use of that. Regardless, it will be an interesting match with the debutants in Europe visiting a club and stadium with an abundance of history in European football.
Feyenoord 3-2 Como was played on matchday 2 of Champions League 2026/27. Feyenoord sit 23rd in the table, while Como sit 12th.
