The small island nation stole the hearts of many over the past year qualifying for the World Cup. Now, after those majestic big stadiums, they will have to return to their humble abode in Willemstad. Though their remarkable journey continued last Thursday in San José, where they overturned a 3-0 deficit at halftime to win 3-4; with substitutes Jordi Paulina, Tahith Chong and Kenji Gorré all playing an important role in the comeback. The Curaçaoans have shown that they can achieve top two in this group, particularly with their ability of never giving up no matter how dire it’s looking for them. Nicaragua almost performed a comeback of their own away against Dominican Republic, after going down 2-0 in just 15 minutes they fought their way back to 2-2, but ended up conceding in the 97th minute as Pablo Rosaria scored the winner for the Dominicans. The Nicaraguans have not yet seen much success under new manager Juan Cruz Real, who in three games has only drawn once while losing twice. They will be aiming to win their first game under the Argentine against a tough Curaçao full of confidence.
