DUFFERS
Avid enjoyer of big, technically limited strikers who underperform their XG.
West Brom3 - 1Burnley
Great resilience from West Brom to come back from one down and get in front early in the second half. After that there was no way back for Burnley. Whitwell and Price were outstanding, Sonne and Humphreys had a tough day in the office dealing with them. I thought the two centre halves, Phillips and Campbell for West Brom looked relatively comfortable and mopped up any danger well for the baggies. Morrison doing an outstanding job so far.
West Brom
Arsenal3 - 0Coventry
Arsenal dominant throughout and Coventry barely had a sniff. Tzolis looked dangerous and direct as per, as well as Calafiori and White offering a lot from both flanks. Simms will not be starting a premier league game again unless Awoniyi gets injured. Couldn’t trap the ball at all. Big money signing Yirenki looked like a bull in a china shop and Thomas was the only decent performer. Who looks like a proper old school centre half, stuck his body on the line numerous times.
Arsenal
Celtic3 - 0Lask Linz
3 moments of pure quality, made the contest seem a lot less even than it was. I thought LASK started better and had a few good opening chances including a disallowed goal. The big lad up top Adeniran was definitely a handful but lacked the killer instinct needed to keep LASK in the game. Nygren was quality and so creative all game, with his lovely half volley putting Celtic in front. As well as his assist for Duran’s second. Camilo Duran was phenomenal from the moment the game kicked off. Direct and rapid he had a few early chances, got himself into areas and I sensed a goal was always going to come. But to get the first in that fashion, An absolute screamer.
Celtic
Cardiff1 - 1Wrexham
Last gasp bit of quality from Colwill, who came on and changed the game, after Wrexham holding on for the last 15 minutes. Thought Wrexham looked comfortable for the majority after the early Kieffer Moore goal, who was a great backboard for Wrexham, in the first half especially. Imray was electric in the first half too. O’Brien was positive when Wrexham did get the ball down and play and Cardiff lacked quality with Salech at the forefront who was abysmal. Doyle dealt with Tanner very well and looked so comfortable on the ball. Will be shocked if prem teams aren’t sniffing around him already.
WrexhamArsenal3 - 0Man City
Arsenal domination. City looked flat and didn’t create much, Arsenal the opposite. Notable performances from Ben White and Odegaard who looked a lot more productive and dangerous when on the ball. But Tzolis’ directness and efficiency impressed me. City will be fine as the season goes along but teething definitely evident.
Arsenal
Sheffield Utd0 - 0Birmingham
- Very boring watch with not a lot of clear chances - Limited shots on target in the entire 90 - Both teams lacked creativity and played poorly
Birmingham
