Lots of clear positives and negatives from this opener. That front 3 is arguably the best in the league and took no time getting up and running. Palmer looks like he’s back to his best, Joao Pedro is still scoring for fun and Rogers fits like a glove. His link up with Palmer especially was a joy to watch. They obviously have great chemistry with each other and know each other well and that really shows on the pitch. Complimenting each other well. Other debuts, I thought Lacroix was fantastic. Don’t let the 2 goals conceded fool you, that was not his fault, or any of the other defenders. He mopped up everything with class, a bit like a janitor in a tuxedo. Nice to know we can rely on him on the wing if there’s an injury crisis. On the other hand, Sanchez. I’m finding it difficult to put into words how frustrating he is. Abysmal performance from somebody who’s made far too many errors to be Chelsea’s starting goalkeeper. I’m not usually someone who likes to just blame the goalkeeper because that often feels like a cheap oversimplification. But both of those Fulham goals were directly his fault. Should’ve caught both the King effort and the Castagne shot that led to the Garcia goal. These are simple saves for a top goalkeeper, and if we had one we would’ve seen out a comfortable win. But more frustrating is the owners for letting him play so long. If we want to challenge for the title we can’t play him anymore. We have to either promote Penders to starter or sign someone fast. Still, we won so I’m not going to be too negative. I’m giving 4 stars because Sanchez has pissed me off too much for a 5 star review. Anyway, new blog out tomorrow.
