pretty good game overall and my first time watching serie a however recently got an obsession with goalkeeping so analysed keepers closely this game. starting with vicario, milan didn’t test him too much at all and he wasn’t very busy, the one goal he conceded (the only shot on target too), his positioning could of been a little better as i believe he left his far post and corner too open for a shot, if he was a few more inches to his left he would of had a bit of a better chance at getting to the ball however from the position he was in he wasn’t going to get to the ball it was a great finish. he recovered the ball and came off his line in situations you would expect him to consistently. his distribution started off quite shaky, there was a few times where he seemed to panic under pressure, made the wrong decision whether it be playing it long with better options, or playing teammates into risky situations, however there were just as many times he made the right pass and executed it well. maignan on the other hand continues to show why he is a world class goalkeeper and can be seen amongst the best in the world. his shot stopping was very good and he made a couple really good saves, as well as comfortably saving the ones you’d expect him to. the goal he conceded i’d say was unavoidable as a goalkeeper, the ball was positioned at the perfect height and at a speed that he never had a chance at keeping it out. he was extremely commanding of his area in coming out to clear/claim the ball when it was put into the box, and seemed to make the right decisions constantly when it came to coming off his line, he didn’t have many sweeper keeper duties to fulfill but when he was called upon he was there. the one part of the game that may of been a weakness was his distribution however i wouldn’t say it was particularly poor either, he seemed comfortable in possession and he rarely made a pass that put teammates into immediate danger, but he didn’t do anything that stood out.
