Not the type of game most people get excited about but this is World Cup heritage for me. Not exactly a classic but still one with a nice story attached. New Zealand deserved a lot more here, they had some chances but couldn’t finish them. I like this team though and they deserve to have more than the 1 point they have now, going to be very difficult to advance now with Belgium next. This ref was also just awful and called nothing for them. Egypt can be happy with the result, obviously with their first World Cup win and advancing to the knockouts for the first time. Which is absolutely insane because they have won 7(!!!) Afcons. Salah definitely isnt it anymore, which is a sad thing to see, just slow and old and he should maybe just retire i cant lie. Marmoush for some reason doesnt have it anymore since his transfer to Man City, i dont know what they did to him but he has never been the same since. Wanted to do a check on the referee but theres barely anything about him. Omar Mohamed Ahmed Hassan Al-Ali is mostly active in the UAE pro league and other domestic competitions, and some AFC CLE games. Ill just say it i think he was insanely biased to Egypt and i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s because hes from the UAE. Then also not ending the game when it was supposed to and adding like 2 extra minutes was stupid too. Hes incompetent and shouldn’t referee again. Salah motm because unc still had it even if he was meh for big parts of the game lmao. Lastly i wanna shoutout @alf for predicting the game right, you have my respect. (Used almost 1600 characters im actually so cooked)
