Brentford3 - 0Tottenham
Laughable. Spurs seemed shaky from the get-go imo, considering the number of signings and their magnitude, more was expected. Still too early to say on the other hand. Keith Andrews has the potential to take this team far if this kind of play can be sustained. Sangare had an exceptional game, felt as though he could really make the difference for Brentford and European qualification. In the desire to stay neutral, I will just say that I hope for the sake of their dignity it’s not the same story as last season for Spurs, but Brentford were by fair the better team.

Brentford
Ipswich2 - 1Sunderland
What a result for Ipswich. Genuinely didn’t expected them to get anything out of this game especially given the Sunderland finish last season. What. A. Goal. Clarke can honestly take a bow for that. Very similar story for Hull City so looking forward to seeing how this plays out for the promoted teams this season.
Hull City2 - 0Man United
Wow. What a start for Hull City when everyone had already written them off. Honestly, if United continue on this path, it would be incredibly hard to predict where they finish. However, in my opinion still too early to tell. Always great to see a surprise scoreline.

Hull City
Espanyol1 - 2Real Madrid
Great first half, honestly disappointed with the result but was expected. Not much clear cut quality from the bigger names of the Real, some poor decisions from the referee. Some great saves from the Espanyol keeper, and great individual performance from Bellingham. Overall, could have spent my time elsewhere tbh.
Marseille4 - 0Strasbourg
Goals ≠ great football. That being said, I’m sure OM will be thrilled with the result, but clearly Strasbourg have to go back to the drawing board.

Marseille
Betis1 - 0Real Sociedad
Weird one because I can’t place whether I actually enjoyed the game or found it painful to watch. However, the scoreline does not do the second half justice as if not for Óskarsson, I’m quite sure the result would have looked different.

Betis
Rayo Vallecano1 - 1Alaves
This was infact, as previously mentioned, a typical LaLiga game. Not the greatest of starts to J2.

Alaves
Alaves3 - 0Getafe
I’m not even too sure what to say about this one tbf- typical Getafe to get a red card in J1 though.

Getafe
Sevilla2 - 1Rayo Vallecano
What. A. Game. I might have to take back my comment about ‘typical LaLiga’ games because I think this is reminiscent of the nostalgic LaLiga BBVA-esque matches that I miss. The match really upped the tempo in the latter minutes of the second half but my word was Rayo robbed- I feel the penalties were much softer than the ones usually given in this league but I do say that as a neutral… The penalties and red card successfully changed the momentum of the game several times over and made it a truly enjoyable watch.
Racing Santander2 - 2Villarreal
Electric atmosphere, genuinely made the game that much more enjoyable. I feel as though the first half and the desire from both teams, specifically Racing, was incredible to watch. What a goal from Sergio Martínez. Beautiful recovery from Villareal, honestly could watch the Pépé goal on loop. Felt as though the second half was a drop off in quality but the first half makes up for it in totality.

Racing Santander
Espanyol3 - 0Levante
Levante simply looked awful.

Espanyol
Deportivo La Coruna1 - 1Elche
Typical LaLiga game-my prejudice towards the league continues. However great goal from Aubameyang.

Deportivo La Coruna
Atletico Madrid2 - 0Malaga
Honestly really not sure what I expected from J1 Atlético but it was decent. Both teams seemed strong, however this really seemed like a typical LaLiga game in the fact the two goals in the game where an incredible finish from Kang-In and a superb free kick from Baena. Overall, not one on the rewatch list but a great debut from Kang-In.

Atletico Madrid
Arsenal3 - 0Coventry
Great start to the season, honestly sets the tone for the style of play Arteta is embracing instead of solely set-pieces. Great debut from Tzolis and incredible display from Ødegaard. Overall comfortable win and the hopium begins.
