Flamengo2 - 1Cruzeiro
Much more of an even contest in the first leg unfortunately but still an entertaining game between two top teams. It was all Flamengo in the first half they looked like they had Cruzeiro at arms length. Cruzeiro came out into the 2nd half with some fire and after Lucas Romero’s rocket it looked like we’d have a much more even battle in the last 40 minutes. However Flamengo found their first half form again and Samuel Lino’s ridiculous finish sealed the deal. A shame to see one of these 2 teams have to be eliminated so early on in the Libertadores.

Only one team in it, Anderson in Chape’s net saved them from a much worse scoreline. I’m going to keep banging on this drum.. I cannot believe Matheus Pereira didn’t go to the World Cup with Brazil. He is such a baller.

A game won in the first half by Mirassol who looked like they took advantage of the league pause due to the World Cup. They won every ball, played the better football. Gremio simply did not exist in those first 45 minutes. I tuned into this game to watch Gabriel Mec and he ghosted 🙃

Not much to take away from this game, Haiti posed no threat whatsoever and basically let Brazil launch dangerous longballs all game long. Brazil should’ve scored more, I can appreciate the game/fitness management side of it all but more goals were on the table if Brazil put their foot on the accelerator a little bit more, and that would’ve helped with the goal difference going into the Scotland match.

Before the first hydration break it was looking absolutely horrific. Morocco completely outplayed Brazil, there was absolutely nothing clicking, Casemiro, Paqueta, & Ibanez all looked lost in those first 20 minutes, and Morocco should’ve taken advantage of the chaos and scored more. However, after Vini’s goal (which is a banger, a classic Madrid Vini Jr goal) Brazil looked better. When the second half comes and Casemiro & Ibanez are taken off for Fabinho and Danilo, we started to look so much better, Brazil look like the team in command and we completely nullify Morocco’s attack for a large portion of the 2nd half. The lack of real threat from Brazil’s attack from then on was disappointing thought. It was a difficult game, Brazil started poor but grew into it and made necessary changes and finished well. Haiti tomorrow, hopefully Ancelotti learned from the first game and makes some changes.
