Chicago Fire2 - 1Portland Timbers
Great win. Sleepy second half. Sad they blew the clean sheet for Brady. Wish guys like Bamba and Puzo would let more shots fly instead of making an extra pass. Feel like we left a goal on the board. Nice to see my guy Barrosso have a good game
Juventus1 - 2Inter
🇮🇹⚽ Had to catch the clash between two giants of Italian football. The first half was a bit of a drag, but the second half absolutely flew by with some really good passages of play. Juventus had plenty of possession early in the second half, but never really looked threatening with it. Inter were by far the better side for me. ⚫🔵 I was expecting a little more from Yildiz, but Diouf was easily my standout player of the game ⭐️ Looked in great form and was causing the Bianconeri problems all night. Overall, a slow burner that turned into a really enjoyable watch. 👏
Chelsea3 - 1Real Sociedad
FUTSAUL REVIEW: Great performance, really feel like Xabi Alonso’s plan for the team is coming together nicely at this early stage. We’ve historically been successful as a back 3 club so it’s about time we went back to what works. In terms of individual performances, Caicedo and James were their usual brilliant selves but I’ve been really impressed with Neto and Palestra as our wingbacks this pre-season, and again today they were key. Palestra plays like he’s wavering from a hunger strike, always hungry, always looking for the proverbial dinner (or in this case, the ball). Pass and move, that’s the philosophy. Neto as well looks revitalised as a wingback. He didn’t convince me last season and his output is probably not good enough for an out and out winger, but he’s always done his defensive duties diligently so this switch seems quite natural, if a bit unexpected. Created the opener with a cross more delicate than my grandmother’s arthritis riddled knees. Nice to see Rogers on the scoresheet on his debut. Thought him and Palmer played well, although people will see Palmer didn’t get a goal contribution and use it against him. Still not at the heights of 23/24 but clearly getting back confidence which is good to see. Unfortunately, I missed Pedro’s first as I was still queueing for water since the start of half time. Line had more people than an Irish family in a sauna and was sweatier than… also an Irish family in a sauna. At least I got to pay nearly £4 for a lukewarm SmartWater! Joao my man of the match of course. Topped it off with a brilliantly taken second goal, that I have to say, was brilliantly assisted by one of my least favourite Chelsea players in Gusto. But credit where it’s due, it was a sublime through ball. So as I finish my dinner of scampi, chips and mushy peas in the nearby Spoons, I sign off. Farewell my Bookd friends 👋 PS - If you booed Enzo, you’re a silly billy. I do not like silly billys.

Hertha4 - 1Heidenheim
What a way to start the season, 2/2 games won and 4-1 win in the first home game, and this performance was great. First of all, the stadium atmosphere was great, everyone was excited for the first home game of the season. Then the game starts, and it was just awesome. It’s the second minute of the game and Grönning, who already scored in the first game makes it 1-0 for Hertha, and they just kept going. Heidenheim really stood no chance in the first half, they gave Hertha a lot of space (which Winkler and Zeefuik punished by scoring 2 more goals) and they literally had no goal-scoring opportunities except for a shot in the 40th minute, it was really fun to watch. Then the second half starts, and obviously Hertha didn’t attack quite as much because of their 3-0 lead at halftime, and Heidenheim even scored 5 minutes into the second half, but this really didn’t affect Hertha, the Defence was great and they had some counterattacks including the one with brekalos assist for Adewumi, who scored his first goal for Hertha in the 90th minute, so the game had a nice ending and it was definitely a great day for every Hertha supporter. The team really feels like a family and, who knows? Maybe at the end of the season we’ll be celebrating promotion. Great start into the season and great game, especially from Josip brekalo, who definitely would have deserved to score a goal.

Kumar in the starting eleven and immediately we have clean sheet 👀 Great display from the team today! Sure, early red card helped but still very proud of everybody. The win here will for sure be a huge confidence boost for the next three very difficult matches that await us. Giving this match 4 stars instead of 5 because we still made quite a few mistakes and we weren't clinical enough in 1vs1 situations which would've been extremely frustrating if we weren't leading. MOTM for me is once again, Frederiksen! He was (again) everywhere on the pitch and I am glad he managed to get an assist today. He had solid chances to score too but it just wasn't his day. His brilliance really came to light once our key players left. Honorable mentions are Doumbia and his control of midfield & Jaganjac and his brace. FORZA ISTRA 💚💛💚💛

boring ball…but i got to be the drummer (with no rhythm) and was caught on live tv looking like i can’t stand my team (i can’t stand my team)

Man United2 - 4Milan
Probably a good watch for the neutral or a Milan fan. The United players had given up after a certain point probably to preserve themselves, Modrić ran the show in the second half nonetheless. Need to see better next week when it all starts again.

Corinthians1 - 2Cruzeiro
Since Lucas started watching Corinthians games: - we’ve won only 2 out of our last 7 games - we got eliminated from the Copa do Brasil - Memphis didn’t renew his contract with Corinthians - we’ve lost 3 key players to injuries - we’ve had to completely change our style of play because we barely have any attackers left - we got hit with another transfer ban - I haven’t had a good day since

Corinthians
Lens1 - 0PSG
I WAS AT THE GAME AND GOT TO SEE LENS RISE!! sooooooo i actually was here and so ill write a real review. IT WAS GREAT!! i know its basically a mock up of ligue 1 farmers league BUT the atmosphere at the stade was something id never experienced before. It really was unreal to see so many fans like this and it was so loud. The football though… LENS DEFENSIVE MASTERCALSS MWAH rattled bumass psg and won the trophy and im super super super happy for them. as like the only english person there surrounded by a bunch of french people, we bonded over a hatred for psg and watching what once a little mining village actually play nice football. it wasn’t like a blockbuster but what made it special for me was actually seeing my biggest “what if” in football. yeah he gets clowned on but Florian Thauvin was absolutely fucking phenomenal. i can’t stress enough how fascinated i was watching him captain the team and play tight football. he’s so gooooood 🤤. ANYWAYS this game gave me a chance to travel a bit and really was so much fun to watch in person.

Mansfield Town2 - 1Doncaster
Game 1/46. Excellent way to start the season as we dominate the seventh biggest club in South Yorkshire 💪 Liam Thompson was immense, he looks like the exact type of player we've needed since McDonnell got recalled halfway through last season. Michael Smith looks a handful for defenders. Akins played very well and i'm delighted he shut their fans up booing them when he assisted Oates. The back three was solid, definitely a few shaky moments but a massive improvement from last Sunday. The goal we conceded was just annoying as it came out of nowhere. But that was about all they did in the second half. Really really well worked second goal as Akins dummy run tricked their defender and left Reed free on the edge of the box to fire home. Special mention for Donny striker Alfie May, you're shite. I hope Tyler Roberts and Didzy's injuries (if they are injured) aren't too serious and Owen Dodgson looked decent when he came on but he didn't have much to do. Last thing is can we please get the Mansfield squad list sorted so i can vote for Liam Thompson please and thank you 🙏

Portland Thorns2 - 1Orlando Pride
loved the kling celebration at the start, the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful at the stadium (there was like 5 orlando fans) deyna and caiya delivered beautiful goals (especially deynas that one is still crazy to see, sad she got hooked), gk played well too, even beside that error goal also that orlando “goal” is ai.

Portland Thorns
Middlesbrough2 - 1Lincoln
WOW!!! What a start to the season. Late winner to take three points at home in a manner that would have ended badly last season. Proper happy with that one. First half was shaky, boro couldn’t get hold of the ball and Lincoln wasted time and stopped momentum whenever possible. Adam Reach got his inevitable goal against us, but there was signs of positives, despite fan crashouts in the stadium. Second half was a different story, biro half control of possession a lot more and looked like scoring. Players built into the game and subs were fantastic. Willy Lankshear brace and three points is the perfect way to start and that winning goal hit like crack. UPTHEBORO🔴⚪️

Tottenham3 - 01899 Hoffenheim
This is a five star performance. Without doubt our best performance of pre season. Not only is it 3-0 but all 3 goals have been nothing short of beautiful. Kinsky looks so assured as always. Gray & Robertson are so comfortable in possession at fullback. Had my criticisms over Robertson this pre season but today he was top. Incredible assist for Richarlison to make it 1-0. Senesi & Van Hecke are exactly how I imagined them to be as a defensive partnership. Top quality on the ball, feel so safe with them. Always looking for the smart pass. Tonali & Bergvall have been almost faultless in the pivot. Tonali's contribution for the first goal was world class. Can't believe people tried saying it was a bad signing. Bergvall's future should no longer be a debate, his pre season has been so impressive & he genuinely looks like a brand new version of himself. Honestly my MOTM today, even over Mikey & Mathys. And as a wing pairing Mathys Tel & Mikey Moore have been top. 2 unbelievable assists made from Tel which Mikey put away impressively both times. Remember, this is Mikey out of position too. I'm so excited for the De Zerbi project. COYS

PSG2 - 1Aston VillaDrunk raoul is fuming we lost, played unreal and deserved another goal. but, the neutral in me adored PSG‘s performance and I’m very lucky to have watched it in person

PSG2 - 1Aston VillaReview from the stadium, wow. So proud of this team. The fight they gave was unreal, against Europe's best team too, is even more impressive. AND to add we were missing 5 first team players, whereas they had their FULL team on the pitch. Despite the result, I feel nothing but positivity from this team. The George Hemmings and Ian Maatsen partnership was absolutely unreal. Brian Madjo an absolute tank. Kamara and Gomes were absolutely brilliant. Bizot even, fantastic. The positive adjectives for each and every player are limitless. I'm so proud of this team. May this be the beginning of a great era under the great Unai Emery. We love him to bits, we wouldn't change him for anyone. I hope we've proved a lot of doubters wrong, once again. The ceiling of this team is only held back by the PL's dodgy rules. Quick word on the referees, awful. But enough about them. This is about Aston Villa 💜💙 Congratulations to PSG, it was a great game. May we meet again 🙂↕️ UP THE FUCKING VILLA!!!

PSG2 - 1Aston VillaPSG wasn’t even better than Villa, which is surprising to say the least looking at both starting elevens. Especially in the second half Villa became much more dangerous. Madjo did great, usually makes the right decisions as well when to pass and such. A interesting case for PSG, not really sure what they’ll do this season. They looked okay this game but it really wasn’t anything special at all. Third time in a row seems unlikely to me. I have watched a fair few friendlies of Villa, so i have seen Brian Madjo show his class already while many haven’t. First of all he is the youngest player to start a UEFA Super Cup game, and second of all he’s the youngest to score in a UEFA Super Cup game. Just in this game you could see his talent already, he doesn’t need many touches to be dangerous. Mostly a bit unlucky but he could’ve definitely scored more, and he’s 17, those goals will come eventually. George Hemmings is a huge talent too, was decent this game so hopefully he will be part of the first team throughout the season. Matty Cash was the worst player on the pitch by a mile though, especially his mistake in the offside trap was dreadful. Im excited about Villa this season though, i was already planning to watch them a lot because i just love teams managed by Unai Emery, but its just such a fun team as well with a huge talent in the team too. I suppose Désiré Doué deserves man of the match for goal and assist, kinda just don’t wanna give it to a PSG player because i thought Villa was slightly better, but i’ll do it anyway. Madjo is up there though, he missed chances and whatever but he was so good this game against the best team in Europe. Shoutout to John McGinn too, what a player.

Juventus2 - 0Palermo
⚪️⚫️ Juventus 2–0 Palermo A decent performance from Juve and plenty to be positive about. Created a heap of chances across the 90 and probably should’ve won by a few more. The football looked sharp in patches and you can definitely see things starting to come together ahead of the new season. 👀 ⭐️ Yıldız looked much sharper tonight. Constantly involved, dangerous around the box and deserved his goal. Starting to look like himself again. 🎯 Kolo Muani, on the other hand, definitely didn’t bring his shooting boots to Perth. Had opportunities but just couldn’t put one away… must’ve left them behind in the 2022 World Cup final. 😭🇫🇷 ⚽️ Good to see Milik get on the scoresheet as well. Overall, a promising 90 minutes from Juventus. Plenty still to improve on, particularly the finishing, but the chances are being created and the football is heading in the right direction. ⚪️⚫️

Chicago Fire3 - 1Santos Laguna
A bit of a maddening first half. Feel like the fire really struggled with spacing. Couple great saves from both goalies. Hate to see Barroso have a tough game. Amazing to see a Lewandowski goal. Fun experience. First seatgeek experience. Size of the stadium has me so excited for the new stadium. Most away fans I’ve ever experienced at a Fire game. Sad I can’t go on Thursday, will probably feel like an away game. Cant get enough of Gutmans aggression
