South Africa
Canada

Writing this review this late will certainly reduce like ceiling (#bookdterminology), but I shall write it regardless out of love for my nation. Follow @taha for more #bookdterminology👍 Honestly not at all a good match, South Africa took very little risk going forward, and Canada played like the entire team was sleep deprived. It was incredibly annoying seeing us repeatedly getting into semi-dangerous positions, just for an improperly weighted pass or poor first touch to give South Africa sufficient time to recover. I can see why that would be boring to watch as a neutral, as an active supporter it was painful. Alphonso Davies is good at football. Tl;dr boring boring boring follow @carbonfiverr for more match analysis. 👍 The ‘FIFA Fan Festival’ is a disgrace to this sport. 18,000 people in a field in 30 degree heat with 1 singular water bottle refill station, wonderful. Thankfully you can purchase a bottle of water from the Coca-Cola concession stand for the low low price of $6.00 - Dasani water at that, not even a decent water brand. My ongoing theory is that Coca-Cola Corporation intentionally makes Dasani taste like pool water in the hopes that it makes soda seem more appealing to water in comparison, although I have no evidence for this. Completely corporatized event that sucks the soul out of the sport. The environment at Nathan Philips Square is significantly better despite having a miniscule screen that 95% of the crowd is unable to see as it feels as if it fosters a genuine sense of community, ‘FIFA Fan Festival’ kills said sense of community. Follow @mcsauced for more left-wing talking points. 👍 Wore my Spurs home shirt today, surprisingly only received 2 “what do we think of Tottenham”’s directed at me, and one was from my friend from high school. Very surprised at the kindness shown by Toronto gooners. Follow @coys for more Spurs content👍 follow @elz for more Gooner content (#doubleentendre)👍 Took a picture of CN Tower for bookd review👍

@ernad A great many!
@harris My thoughts are that I have no thoughts
@janelovesbarca What are you thought on it?
Everyone else has a comment here so I want one too
@dylan Hi Dylan, you now have a comment. Consider yourself commented.
@harris What are your thoughts on Mark Carney?
@dylan I am of 2 minds regarding him. My personal politics more closely align with the Canadian conservative party, I was in favour of former Conservative PM Stephen Harper and former PM candidate Erin O'Toole, however I actively dislike the brand of populist politics being pedalled out by the Conservative Party in recent years. I despise current Ontario premier Doug Ford, and I found conservative candidate Pierre Polievere to be effectively unelectable. He did not even release the official...
@harris FUCK I WROTE A WHOLE THING AND IT SAID FAILURE TO POST
@dylan Dylan is there any platform upon which I may send you a voice message detailing my thoughts I am worried I may write another paragraph and it gets deleted again
@harris I do not know which platforms may allow this. I have almost no social media. You could try copying it before hitting send maybe. Very unfortunate that the deep state (vibecoded app) is stopping you.
@harris I will probably do this. At the soonest possible point, I will recruit some poor bastards to run it all for me (except Twitter).
@harris ...party platform until mere days prior to the election. Carney was the best of many bad options, and for what it's worth I think he's been the most Harper-esque candidate since 2015. I greatly disliked Trudeau's brand of identity politics, focusing more on optical issues that would ensure he stayed in the news cycle than the banal issues plaguing the average working class man. Carney is a return to normalcy for Canadian politics, I do not have any desire for my prime minister to be...
@harris ...known internationally as Trudeau was. Jean Chrétien was not a celebrity figure, Harper may have been minorly sheerly due to the length of his term in office, Trudeau was an international politics superstar, which I personally do not find to be admirable at all. Thus far I've liked Carney's approach to the issues the nation is facing, however the hole the Trudeau government has dug is so deep that I worry he will not be able to fix it in time, and populist Pierre will likely win the...
@dylan May I ask what your reasoning is for this anti-twitter opinion. I downloaded the app 3 days ago at the request of @alf and thus far I am enjoying it, although I must say I find the content on the 'home page' to be mindless drivel.
@harris I would also describe myself as overall supportive of Carney. What leads you to think Poilievre will win the next election? I was of a mind the Liberal Party had held a solid lead over the Conservatives, though I could be wrong. Carney also enjoys good personal favourability, right?
@harris ...him as a very slimey, opportunistic individual, given his many years spent living in the US, his convincing of MPs to cross the party line, etc.
@harris This is fairly concerning. Ultimately, I hope he is able to achieve some deal of economic good for Canada to stave off Pierre, who I feel should have given up after losing his own riding. I am not fond of Poilievre. Past my hatred of populism, I also find him to be truly pathetic on a personal level. I also wonder what you think of Emmanuel Macron, whom I view as a ‘lion’.
@dylan I agree with your assessment of Pierre, he is by far my least favourite Conservative Prime Ministerial candidate of my life time, and I find it truly pathetic that he managed to squander his lead and lose the Canadian election, I find it even more embarrassing that in spite of his failures the Conservative party continued to back him.
@dylan I believe you are incorrect about Macron, he seems to be a human. I struggle to see how a lion could be an effective national leader.
@harris In all honesty, I am not particularly familiar with European politics, however from my understanding on his policies I am generally in support. If I understand correctly he is generally an economically right and socially left pragmatist, which is similar to how I would describe my own personal brand of politics. I am particularly fond of his defence of nuclear power, of which I am a massive advocate.
@dylan If I am mistaken in my view in any regard please do not hesitate to inform me
@harris You’re generally right. He’s considered a centrist, and has pursued tax cuts and programmes aimed at shrinking the deficit. He’s has sacked members of the civil service to lower spending, he opposes a wealth tax, and has helped to lower local tax. He also attempted (though the French get very mad) to reform and reduce spending on pensions. He is pro-nuclear energy, as well as pro nuclear deterrent.
@dylan In that case it seems as if his opinions are very similar to mine, and I would consider myself a supporter. I also am pleased with his ability to hold off far-right Marie Le Pen, although for what it's worth I think that at her core she is a somewhat intelligent woman forced to take extreme positions as that is what helps her brand the most.
@toni @olivia what is the #bookdrecord for most comments under a review? I believe this one may be approaching that number, if not already exceeded by now.
@harris I’m proud to be a part of history if that is the case 😊
@harris this review definitely has the record
@taha I share your positive attitude towards this accomplishment :)
@olivia Why that is simply delightful! Jolly good news :)
@harris oh also i was in toronto this weekend! did not go to the fan festival though because i was visiting with some friends that aren’t too into soccer jajajaja
@olivia soccer
@harris adding to the comment record i agree with the fan festival portion brah unless you get a #paid (🧐) ticket the vancouver one was also balls when will #classantagonism develop into #classconsciousness so we can stop freaking drinking dasani water in 30 degrees heat with one freaking screen as per your wise words
@olivia I believe you also did not visit the "FIFA fan festival" as you are an intelligent, rational person. I wish I could say the same of myself.
@toni god forbid a girl feels a little canadian
@olivia The Toronto one was marginally better in terms of screens, I believe there was 4 throughout the area, perhaps the only thing that the Toronto fan festival did correctly was screen quality. I was able to attain a ticket for free as I have a friend who works for the city of Toronto, however normally they would be paid. I feel immense sympathy for anyone who paid for tickets to this event. I am deeply dissapointed with my federal, provincial, and municipal governments desire to...
@harris Bend over backwards and do everything in their power to please the corrupt FIFA organization, prioritizing their profit over the needs of their citizens
@harris In other news, the thread has now exceeded 100 comments
Congrats Harris 🎉!
@raw Thank you❤️
All of the #bookd niches here fairs
@aadil
@harris W’s in the SCHAT
This was an experience wow
@scartinelli I would like to make an ammendum to my initial review. I left out the fact that the DJ at the event sounded remarkably similar to French hip-hop artist Vegedream, who previously attended Toronto FIFA Fan Fest, and whenever he would speak I would think that ramenez la coupe à la maison was playing, only to be dissapointed mere seconds later, on numerous occasions, without fail.
@camilo Wow Camilo may I say I find this gif to be simply swell! It reminds me of my good friend Freddie. It has bought a smile to my face :)
@harris
@harris
@taha I am not a fan of president Donald J. Trump. I am generally libertarian leaning, and thus should be supportive of Republican Party, however I cannot bring myself to feel any positive emotions for someone I see to be a self-centered, arrogant, evil man. In particular I find his support of ICE agents arrest of citizens without due cause to be disgusting and unconstitutional.
@camilo Wow, the penguin must have kicked that ball very hard for it to burst through the net! He is clearly very talented, a master at his craft.
@harris Indeed. Perhaps he ought to become a member of the prestigious and illustrious CD Castellón. His talent is wasted on the likes of your country’s national team! He should be with his kinsmen, among Freddie’s people.
@camilo Fortunately Canada is merely his national allegiance, he is free to sign with whichever club he pleases. It would bring me great joy to see him at CD Castellón, a club which I have supported since time immemorium.
@harris And once he signs with CD Castellón, I expect him to swear a new vow and pledge his allegiance to his new motherland Spain, the king, and, of course, to our Supreme Leader Frederick of Bookdbón (Freddie, as he is known by the masses). Glory to Castellón!
@taha Ew why is the Penguin #HIM
@camilo Glory to Freddie
@aadil Unfortunately I have no idea why it would be that case. I don’t know who would have such malice in their heart to forge such a kind, loving, innocent penguin into a caricature of “him”. @harris, do you have any idea as to how/why this happened?
@taha Exactly like this is gore of our comfort character
@taha Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you are going to get! I always found that quote to be ridiculous. You'll be getting chocolates. Every time I've ever opened a box of chocolates it's contained chocolates. Not entirely sure what they were getting at.
@harris If I may play devils advocate, this popular quip is meant to convey the idea that you never know what FLAVOR of chocolate you will be getting. Of course it’s more nuanced than the notion that you will always be getting chocolate. Think of those tins of chocolate at Costco- they have different types of chocolate in them.
@taha I am very fond of Costco. I am an executive member of their institution. My sole quarrel is the fact that there is a severe shortage of locations. In Toronto proper, a city containing over 3 million people, there are only 6 total Costco locations, one of which being a business centre. This leads to trips to Costco becoming an endeavor in and of themselves, requiring at least 2 hours of time sectioned off, if not more.
@harris I also hold a Sam's club membership and, despite the fact that I believe their quality of stock is slightly lower, I believe the user experience at Sam's club is much higher due to less passenger traffic.
@taha Austin is a city of 1,000,000 people, meaning 2 Costcos in the city is a very similar rate of Costcos per capita to Toronto. It is very unfortunate that there are so few businesses centres in the United States, there are 2 in the greater Toronto area and 1 in Hamilton, which is about an hours drive away. I have gained a new found appreciation for them. Are there Sam's clubs in Austin?
@harris Yes there are Sam’s Clubs in Austin as well. However, we have always been a Costco family and it feels a little sacrilegious to shop at Sam’s Club. That beign said, we still do it anyway, however significantly less than we do at Costco.
@harris I agree with your belief. It’s definitely a tool used to sew this idea of herd mentality within the population. Not only that, by creating two alternatives - they succeed in splitting the herd and pitting the common man against one another - prevalent in many such cases.
@taha For whatever reason I am not getting notifications for your replies to my comments, only for likes. I wonder why this may be.
@harris The powers at be do not want us to communicate any further. This is worrying.
@taha Big brother is watching. You must join CD Castellón chat at once.
@harris Unfortunately they still have me on the aforementioned 14 day cool down. They’re on to me. However, the Brazil-Japan chat is now open 👀
@taha This is exciting information. Opurtune time to make "what if" jokes
Congratulations on the win today Harris, I believe Canada deserved to go through more than South Africa did. It was a bit of a nothing burger match and felt like a group stage game despite the circumstances. I’m happy that your 1-0 prediction hit! I’m sorry that you had to deal with the late-stage capitalism hell that is the FIFA Fan Fest.
@taha I greatly appreciate the comment Taha. I read it in full. This is not a very impressive feat given that it was 4 sentences long, however I am tired, and I have been told by my peers to "celebrate small victories"
@harris Yes one should always celebrate the victories no matter their size. However I don’t appreciate the condescending tone that you preach with regarding my four sentence comment. I will turn a blind eye and be the bigger person I suppose. Perchance. This comment has five sentences.
@taha I apologize if my comment came across as critical towards your contributions. I meant for it to be self depricating. It is sometimes difficult to convey tone through text. Please understand that I meant no malice with my previous comment. Please do not report me to big brother as some others would do in this situation.
@harris Nonsense! I took no malice from it whatsoever. You are a kind soul and a great human. I would never report you to Big Brother anyway - that would be cowardly.
@mcsauced
@ruby
@mcsauced No 😥😥please don’t explode 😖💔💔💔
@ruby Me when someone asks me who made hit song "kiss from a rose" Follow @mcsauced for more seal content👍
@harris This was a reply to the comment "SEAL" in case the context did not make it clear
@harris 😂 That song is so goated
Please follow me on this new fangled social media platform X formerly known as Twitter @ portsmouthcrow. I have received 1 like on all of my tweets. My dream is to get to 2 likes. Martin Luther King Jr's dream was significantly more consequential, but I am not overly familiar with him. If you seek to learn more about his contemporary Malcolm X I would reccomend Pulitzer Prize winning biography Malcolm X: a Life of Reinvention by Manning Marble.
@harris I have also heard good things about Les Payne's "The Dead are Arising: The Life of Malcolm X" although I have not read it yet myself.
@harris What if instead of bookd it was book and it was about books? Follow me on goodreads for more books👍 you may follow @dylan as well if he consents.
@harris I consent (I think my last name is off now)
@dylan That is correct, it now just says Dylan. We will all know your last name in due time when a an openly homosexual conservative runs for MP of north west gwilliamshire or wherever
@harris *Southern Devon
@dylan I believe that is in the south west of the United Kingdom however I may be mistaken
@harris You are correct
@dylan Brilliant! I believe the 'white cliffs of Dover' are in the south east.
@harris This is also true. Dover is all the way to the Southeast. If Britain were a box, it would be the bottom right corner.
@dylan If Britain were a box you would have to give me the z-axis as well
@harris I am not very fond of ‘maths’, nor am I very fond of ‘geometry’, more specifically.
@dylan Thoughts on Dijkstras Algorithm?
@harris I’ve no particular thoughts on this matter, on account of not knowing (or at least remembering) what this is.
@dylan This is likely due to the fact that it is used in graph theory in computer science, and is of no use to a political science student.
@harris This likely would impact my chances of knowing about it
A lot of red and white in the crowd, don't they know Poland didn't make the world cup? Follow @midgetlover for more polish content
@harris Unironically did meet a polish person I said Dziendobre and he said something back but I didn't know what because I don't speak polish so I said "Bober Kurwa" which is what they say when they see a beaver
I ran out of character limit so I'll put my reaction to the win here: yay!
