It’s devastating seeing UCL without Lyon once again, just 6 years and couple of days ago they were knocked out in semi finals with arguably one of the strongest sides in football history. On the positive side, it’s probably better for them to finish in top 8 in UEL and still go up against top teams, than finish outside top 24 in UCL without any big results, anyways more to come for them. As for Fenerbache I’m very big fan of their system, what I mean is transfer policy, they did absolutely great job and well, it resulted in qualifying for UCL, good luck to them.

Fenerbahce, despite the lack of home advantage in this leg, came out the better side by a clear amount. Lyon really had their chances early on but nowhere near the amount that Fener were having. They didn't really start putting in the work until they were 2-0 down. Lyon in the second half though were the better side, that great volley they got to give them some hope is one I think would be appreciated more if it wasn't during qualifying. I'm sure they'll also feel hard pressed with the two goals they had ruled out. Fenerbahce will be an interesting team to watch in the Champions League this season, with a very aggressive style on and off the pitch. Whoever they come up against should not underestimate them. Lyon, despite not getting the level they wanted, will be my personal favourite to go all the way in this year's Europa League.

It was a great game. Fenerbahçe started strongly, scored their chances, and quickly scored two goals, which gave them confidence. They then controlled possession. Lyon had a few chances but failed to scored on them. The second half was more intense and faster. Lyon never gave up, scoring two goals out . Fenerbahçe didn’t sit back and defend, and overall, it was a fantastic match

Wow what a game ! I don’t think there was a moment in the match that was calm , each and every second of it was like something is about to happen. Teams with very different play styles provided us with this unexpected events .. OM were much more dominant with the ball but their reliance on Fofana was a bit too much , Fofana really tried to create chances from nothing and was very close to do but Fenerbace’s defense was too strong . (That’s why I have Archie Brown as my MOTM) Fenerbace on the other side knew how to stop almost every OM chance and really reduced the danger OM can create to a large extent. With players like Greenwood and Muriqi it was really hard to stop them from scoring especially that OM was overwhelmed with Fenerbace’s defense even though they were really close scoring the second goals but they were really unlucky..

Assez déçu par ce match particulièrement la seconde mi temps. La première était plutôt sympa dans l’optique où les deux jouaient vraiment et lyon s’est fait logiquement surprendre. Maintenant dans la deuxième, alors que le fener proposait un non-jeu net, Lyon n’a pas su saisir son opportunité malgré une équipe à caractère offensive. J’ai pas trop compris l’idée de jouer en contre alors que t’aurais pu proprement mettre la main sur le ballon et faire de vraies phases offensives. Les changements de Fonseca n’ont vraiment pas aidé puisque Nuamah et particulièrement Maintland Niles avaient leur place dans ce match. Gros fumble, élimination méritée, maintenant l’Europa sera ok pour eux.
