A game with two different halves. First half was entertaining even though there weren’t that many chances. Both teams were very strong defensively and knew how strong their opponent is. There was a lack of big chances but it was 1-1 after 45 minutes because of the efficiency of both teams, Scherhant scored in the 14th minute and Maza immediately answered after a great backheel assist from Patrik Schick. Second half had a similar start but after 60 minutes Leverkusen started to dominate the game and Patrik Schick scored with a wonderful Maza assist. Since Freiburg then had to attack, Leverkusen had a lot of opportunities with their counter-attacks, but they couldn’t score any of them. Freiburg then had a great chance in the 93rd minute, which Höler sadly missed. Maza had an incredible game and I am very excited to see how he develops. Overall it was a deserved win for Leverkusen, especially after the second half, Freiburg didn’t play bad but they should have taken more risks, I feel like they were a bit too careful at times.
