Tottenham Hotspur W1 - 6London City Lionesses W

Why did they do that?

London City Lionesses W
USA1 - 0Canada

Was highkey hoping they’d sub Justin Ellis off since he seemed injured, only for him to score minutes later. An exciting first half, a much slower second at least for the US, and weird calls from the ref throughout.

USA
NJ/NY Gotham1 - 1Angel City

What a game. Angel City played aggressively throughout and put a lot of pressure on Gotham. The Shaw goal, and Lavelle’s assist, was beautiful, and Gotham had a lot of solid plays, but player of the match has to go to Taylor Suarez for her equalizer. Suarez routinely scores after being subbed on late game, and as an FSU alum it’s impossible not to love her. The only disappointing thing about this match was Dudley’s absence. She really brings Gotham’s attacking on the right side together, and is a crucial connector between Lavelle and Kerr while being a goal scorer herself. As cool as it would have been to see two FSU champs on the field playing against each other, it was still a good game and Angel City once again proves they’re the team to watch right now going into playoffs.

Angel City
Barcelona W7 - 0Real Madrid W

Insane game. Barça plays such amazing football, it’s impossible not to love them. The Sydney goal was probably the most beautiful of the match for me, and Graham Hansen was consequential throughout, but player of the match has to go to Pina with 4 stunning goals.

Barcelona W
Manchester City W4 - 2Arsenal W

Exciting game! Arsenal looked threatening throughout, but Hemp solidified the Man City win with her brace. Always happy to see a Bunny Shaw goal, and I wish Hasegawa had a better game, but still a fun watch.

Manchester City W
Kansas City5 - 1Bay FC

Such a hype game. Debinha hat trick and a Chawinga goal to top it off? This is the KC team I fell in love with.

Kansas City
Monterrey W4 - 3América W

My first Liga MX Femenil game, and I really wasn’t expecting one of the most exciting matches I’ve seen in the last couple months. Club America started strong, with particularly good performances from Geyse, Guerrero, and to some extent Camberos. Geyse especially was impressive for her aggression and tenacity, and posed a constant threat throughout the match. But the comeback from Monterrey was beautiful. With a brace from each of their goals scorers, it’s hard to pick between Vargas or Chavarin for player of the match, but I think it has to go to Vargas for scoring the opening and game-winning goals. Things slowed down a lot in the last 20 or so minutes of the game, but it remained entertaining throughout, with the risk of an equalizer from Club America never off the table.
Orlando Pride1 - 2San Diego Wave

Enjoyable first half, with a particular good showing from San Diego. Loved Van Zanten’s defending, especially her marking Washington, and Byars, Godfrey, and Corley all had great games. But things really devolved in the second, with sloppy play from both sides and a lot of unnecessary fouls.

San Diego Wave
Chelsea W1 - 0Arsenal W

This was my first Arsenal W game, so I didn’t know what to expect, but their performance was definitely messy to say the least. Nonetheless, it as an interesting match, and though both teams could have played better the Alyssa Thompson goal was fun to watch.

Chelsea W
Washington Spirit0 - 1Angel City

Really impressed with Angel City’s performance against a team of Spirit’s caliber, and it makes me hopeful of how they’ll perform in the playoffs. The teams felt evenly matched, but it seemed like Angel City was able to keep up the pressure enough to finally result in Spirit letting one in.

Angel City
England2 - 3Spain

A very entertaining match. Lamine Yamal’s opening goal was beautiful, and he performed well throughout. England definitely didn’t go down easy, but Oyarzabal’s game-winning goal was very well deserved and it was nice seeing him take to the pitch again after the WC.

Spain
NJ/NY Gotham3 - 1Chicago Red Stars

Poor defending from Chicago, but still a laudable performance from Gotham. They kept up the pressure throughout the match. Dudley stayed aggressive, Lavelle got a solid assist, and Kerr also showed up, but it was Shaw who really proved her centrality to this Gotham team once again.

NJ/NY Gotham
Barcelona W5 - 2Paris W

First women’s FCB match, and it didn’t disappoint. A few impressive plays from Paris, but Barcelona was in command for most of the match. A lot of solid players, including Pajor and Kerolin, but I think Hansen stood out the most to me for her command of the match, her assists, and her insane goal from distance.

Barcelona W
Inter Miami2 - 2San Diego

San Diego
Utah Royals0 - 3Angel City

A real mess of a game, with two early red cards for Utah. They defended well considering they were down to 9 players, but it would be incredibly difficult to win from that position. Some quality goals from Angel City nonetheless, with Suarez’s being my favorite from the match.

Angel City
Man City5 - 3Sunderland

Nashville
North Carolina Courage1 - 2NJ/NY Gotham

Very tense game, a much stronger defense from NC than I’ve seen in their previous games, but Gotham was still able to eke out two goals with the Jordynn Dudley brace. Happy with the results, even if I was anxious as hell while getting there.

NJ/NY Gotham
Orlando Pride1 - 4Portland Thorns

I haven’t been impressed with Portland in their last 3 games, but they really showed up today. Sophia Wilson was such a key player, really commanding the movement of the Portland team and creating several opportunities, all while scoring a penalty. Sad that the tenacity Orlando showed against KC in their game didn’t really translate to this one, having many opportunities at the start of the 2nd half but not able to convert them into goals.

Portland Thorns
San Diego Wave2 - 0Kansas City

Great performance from San Diego. KC had a few good opportunities in the first half due to poor passing from SD, but those opportunities were shut down in the second half. There were a lot of beautiful plays from SD, and many standout players from Barcenas to Van Zanten, but Kenza Dali proved to be the anchor of this team and her assist with the final goal really solidified her position as player of the match for me.

San Diego Wave
Angel City3 - 1Seattle Reign

Was expecting a better showing from Seattle, but I’ve had a lot of fun watching Angel City these last few games. Three goals with three scorers, I love the versatility of this team.

This Philly team looks more dangerous with every game, it’s impossible not to love them. So excited for Cavan’s Man City transfer in a couple years, but looking forward to seeing his growth at Philly in the meantime.

Aston Villa W1 - 4Manchester City W

Was more focused on the Boston v Washington game, but really enjoyed what I saw. One of my first Man City women’s games and didn’t disappoint. Loved watching 🐰, but I think the final own goal sparked by Hemp was my favorite of the match.

Manchester City W
Washington Spirit0 - 3Boston Legacy

I was impressed with Boston’s performance and thought player of the match would go to either Aissata or Schupansky for the former’s shots on target and the first goal and the latter for the opportunities she created, only for Gutierres to come out and immediately steal the show and solidify Boston’s win.

Boston Legacy
Angel City3 - 3Denver Summit

Lindsey Heaps first goal with the Summit! All in all an exciting game between two fairly evenly matched teams.

Denver Summit
Kansas City2 - 2Orlando Pride

So good! I wish KC could have pulled through, but in the end Banda’s brace in the first half held and KC couldn’t accomplish more than a draw. I love this league, I love the level of play, I love that I get to watch three Ballon d’Or nominees play together on a random Friday night.

Orlando Pride
Racing Louisville1 - 2NJ/NY Gotham

Was hoping for a more interesting game for Gotham, but still enjoyed watching Shaw, Dudley, and Lavelle during their time on the pitch. Disappointed with Kerr’s performance.

NJ/NY Gotham
Chicago Fire1 - 1Inter Miami

Not necessarily a good game, but a highly dramatic one. A beautiful opening goal from Lewandowski, but I think Noah Allen was the most interesting story on the field—playing against the team he was loaned out from, and defending excellently in key moments. Despite the dramatic moments, I still can’t rate this game any higher due to the poor refereeing.

Chicago Fire
Atlanta United2 - 3Orlando City

Griezmann is the anchor of the Orlando team and played excellently. Saddened by Atlanta’s performance, I had a lot of hope in Embolo but a good striker can’t make up for a leaky defense.

Orlando City
Portland Thorns1 - 2Washington Spirit

Washington played a really strong, really physical game, while the Thorns mostly relied on set pieces to create opportunities to score. They really couldn’t compare to the momentum of the Spirit this game, but overall a good watch. Rodman remained threatening throughout with a really solid assist, and the Spirit’s keeper made sure to shut down most of Portland’s major opportunities.

Washington Spirit
Denver Summit3 - 0NJ/NY Gotham

Solid performance from Denver. As a Gotham fan I’m missing Rose Lavelle a lot right about now 😭

Denver Summit
Inter Miami2 - 2Atlanta United

Such a fun game to watch live at Brewhouse in Atlanta. Amazing experience, and good on atl for not letting Miami take this one away. Embolo really refreshed the dynamics of the Atlanta team, and some incredible saves from the keeper kept Miami at bay. Wonderful night

Atlanta United
Boston Legacy2 - 5Angel City

A fun game, even if I can’t call it a good one. Impressive showing from Angel City nonetheless, especially from Chilufya.

Angel City
Washington Spirit1 - 0Bay FC

Washington Spirit
Kansas City3 - 2North Carolina Courage

Fantastic attacking from KC in the first half, but really fell apart in the second. Lorena’s goalkeeping was so key in allowing KC to keep its lead, with 6 saves in the second half. I wanted to see more from NC, but Sanchez kept KC on their toes, Ijeh’s goal was beautiful, and all in all they didn’t play a bad game except their defending in the first half.
