The first time I watched Lionel Messi play for Barcalona I was in 2014. I was around three or four at my cousins house while my mama and papa were out working. I remember being infatuated with him as a player. Everyone around me knew he was great but it was something I had to see. From than one I kept watching and watching him. Another first for me was watching him lose.. well not exactly first — I had an EMOTIONAL wc 2014 but I wasn’t exactly old enough to fully understand that. I think that 3-0 loss to Juve in the 16/17 showed me his first great loss to me. And obviously this isn’t an international game, but this had me sobbing. It’s like believing something would never break but than it ending up just as fragile as everything else is in life. This changed my feeling towards Messi for little me, it showed me to be happy and proud of him for playing so hard, but also sad for him when it isn’t exactly his time. This is also how I felt watching his 2018 wc loss. (Horrible year for little me with El Tri aswell!!!) Football is the most constant factor in my life. It’s been there for me through every up and down I’ve faced. Football brings my family together, football makes my dad happy, football cooled me down whenever I had fears about my livelihood. The biggest most constant thing in football for me is Lionel Messi. Messi raised what my idea of football was. Messi showed me what talent looked like. Messi showed me that poor Hispanic kids like us can do great things in our lives. He showed me many things that I don’t think most athletes can do. But there’s other constants in my life; family, friends, and sadder stuff obviously. But this lies into Messi as well. My papa is the biggest fanboy I know, i could bet that loves Messi more than 1/3 of this app I bet. Nothing made me happier growing up than watching Barca/Tigres with my family when ever we could. It’s the little things in life; such as sports, that makes people more connected with one another. (1/2)

boring game, good defensive performance from us took good control of the game but we did nothing absolutely nothing with that control just 1 big chance where mousa missed a tap in not a great performance but we move only the second game under the new manager

India1 - 6Uruguay
I read somewhere that if football were a game of 25 minutes, India would be World Champions already. I think we did much better than the scoreline suggests. Having Anirudh Thapa in the midfield playing as an orchestrator actually worked in the first half. We managed to break Uruguay's lines and create some good chances. The defense bar Sandhu was very bad. Made some very rudimentary mistakes and we still don't have a good ball playing CB to help both our midfield and defence. Ryan Williams, where would we be without you? Man created the chance that led to the goal and once again was the best player on the field for us. Shame he is 33 but he doesn't even look like it. Khalid Jamil is improving as a coach. He has let go of some of his haramball tendencies and coached a team which played some good football in pockets. I know we didn't win a single game this international break, but if you're an Indian fan you'll be proud of this team (given you actually watched the match, that is).

IM SO HEALED BY MY RAYADAS, THE BEST AT THE FOOTBALL CAMP THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING A wonderful remontada at home, lowkey lost some hope at the first half but my god did they lock IN, a wonderful fourth goal that lit up our stadium, RAYADAS DE MONTERREY! my player of the match would have been Alice Soto for her masterful managing of the midfield, but she’s not available:(

Aston Villa2 - 1Liverpool
What a day this was, 9 year old Theo was in dreamland with jubilant family around. Tim Sherwood gets a lot of stick for his time at Villa, most of it is rightfully so with his stubbornness in management, but let us not forget the memories he helped create in this FA Cup run. "Super Jack" Grealish making a name for himself this season and this was the biggest statement of them all, toying with Liverpool at every given chance. Prime Christian Benteke was something to behold, without shadow of a doubt he kept Villa up for multiple seasons with his lethal finishing. We all know this was the match that Liverpool saw him as a gem, a shame he didn't work out there in the end. His sale really hurt Villa and ultimately guided us to a dismal 20th place the next season, but I'm not here to dwell on the dark times. Fabian Delph leading by example with the armband, still scoring one of the most satisfying goals I've seen in football. Maybe I am biased, but the backheel from Benteke, the through ball from Grealish and then the cut back inside and the way the ball just bobbled over Mignolet into the back of the net, wow. To some it may seem like a simple goal, but Villans such as myself still remember every second to this day. The players defended for their lives at the end, Richardson with a goal line clearance, Given with his experience in helping us get over the line. And although there was a refereeing error in disallowing a Balotelli goal, I think we were definitely deserved winners for the passion those players gave on the pitch, something we didn't really see all season. Even when we were 1-0 down to a tidy Coutinho finish, I felt a spark telling something good is to come on this day. And it did. The 2010s don't give many good memories for Aston Villa, maybe why we all fondly remember this game, but I'm glad I do. I remember bragging at school about the result, I believe I earned it with the banter directed at my club constantly. We don't speak of the final though...

Tottenham2 - 3Aston VillaFar from comfortable ending but I thought we were so good in that second half. The defensive shape Emery kept us in was elite management, Suzuki, Mings, Manzambi, Jackson and Ruggeri with standout performances. Glad to get 3 points, don't care how, but the 3 points is what matters. Would've been nice to keep a clean sheet and I thought Zion deserved it for his heroics, but football isn't kind, especially to Villa 😂 Buendia with his annual Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tax collection, what a way to do it too. He didn't have a great first half but showed up when it mattered ❤️🩹 Zion kept us in the game in the first half with crucial saves, without him it would've been a different story, I feel very safe with him❤️🩹❤️🩹 UTV 💜💙

Match was mid and im lowkey surprised how nobody was able to win after seeing some of the opportunities each side had. 😭 Also, I really love the Bookd community that we’ve managed to create. Even though we’re all from different parts of the world, we’re always there for one another. 🫶

Man United0 - 1Man City
A derby i looked forward to mostly overshadowed by what in my opinion is a refereeing error. The first half started promising, but the early red for Foden did ruin it a bit. It’s a clear red for him, but Bruno should have had red too for doing the same thing. But refs suck, this is common knowledge. I think all things considered the first half was still *fine*, can’t expect much when its 11 vs 10, just mostly both sides not knowing how to play football when they get into the final third. The second half felt more or less the same. Also with yet another controversial call. I am not sure if the goal should stand, as far as i know the rules its between deflection and a deliberate play. If Dorgu deliberately hits the ball there then yeah thats not offside, but it quite clearly looks like a deflection. Ndiaye did come on good though from the bench, played a decent game. Just yeah poor refereeing, only 5 minutes extra, some minor incidents between players, and just generally Oliver trying to take the spotlight. No one really stood out, i think Enzo did well, as well as Nunes and Gvardiol. But Haaland probably deserves it for being the deciding factor with his goal.

Man City
Sunderland0 - 2Arsenal
A match full of very physical duels, with Arsenal managing to 'Gun' the Black Cats down in the end. Sunderland had huge chances throughout the game, including an Enzo Le Fee penalty, which was heroicly saved by the Spanish wall that is David Raya, proving again why he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Dan Ballard had an excellent game I thought, winning duels and the penalty, also a spectacular goal line clearance with a diving header. At the other end, they couldn't find a way past the immaculate Arsenal defence. A Bruno Guimaraes screamer stunned the Mackems, rubbing salt in the wounds with his Newcastle ties. Late in the game, Sunderland also conceded a penalty, resulting in a second yellow for Reinildo. Bukayo Saka managing to find fortune and convert for his 3rd of the season. I don't think Sunderland were bad, but the amazing work of Arsenal's defence ultimately halted any chance of a result. Arsenal looking extremely solid again, you're wondering who will be the team to stop them, because they are on a steamroll of results. It's now 10 goals scored and 1 goal conceded in all competitions, extremely impressive. Signing Bruno Guimaraes has brought quality to the team depth and he helped Arsenal win this game with an unreal finish. I've mentioned this team getting better, which they are proving every single game. Got to give a lot of credit to Mikel Arteta, I'm far from his biggest fan, but he has done a great job in the past year. MOTM David Raya, without his presence and penalty save it might've been a different result for Arsenal.

Llorent must have something against Liverpool because theres no way he manages to score against them AGAIN. After the goal Atletico weren’t really threatening for the rest of the match until the end. When Liverpool signed Araujo on loan, I knew he would do well there however I did think he would be playing at CB next to Van Dijk but instead he’s been playing RB and has done really well there. Hopefully he continues and Liverpool buys him.

León W5 - 2Puebla W
Fun match as are most liga mx femenil matches made extra fun by the chat tonight. Leon was defintely the better team tonight and the only reason they got two goals is puebla caught leon’s keeper lacking twice.
León W5 - 2Puebla W
Straight belt sesh. Keeper cannot jump to save her life tbh both goals should’ve never happened but she did have good saves throughout the match. Bolaños should’ve had a hattrick but she gave the pen to Itzel Aleman fairs. We will take down America on the woman’s side too

León W5 - 2Puebla W
7 goals in a game which is fun. And it was nice to actually have a lively chat in a femenil game hope it’s not a one off.
