USA3 - 0MexicoWhat a way to completely mess up a game by Mexico. The first half should’ve ended very differently, but Mexico’s failure to put the ball behind the net cost them dearly. The second half was what it was and we have to start questioning why a goalkeeper that played in the World Cup a couple of months ago looked like a complete amateur here. Objectively speaking I liked the style Rafa is implementing on the team, but you have to do more. A lot of work to be done because a 3-0 is not the way to go. Oh well it’s Saturday so vamonos al BAILE! Croatia1 - 3MexicoOh what a game this was. I still remember it like it was yesterday. This was one of my peak experiences watching football on television. Before the game there was a lot of talk from the Croatian National team and that made for a hell of a motivator for the Mexicans. You could feel the tension from both teams in the first half with a couple of squabbles and hard challenges. One thing about this Mexico squad was that it had chemistry, the midfield was stacked and the duo of Peralta and Dos Santos understood each other well. One strategy from the get go was set-pieces and you can tell very well that Miguel Herrera worked on this because the crosses were hard and precise towards the goalkeeper’s box. This is how the brilliant first goal came from Rafa Marquez after multiple attempts with the same play (very reminiscent of what Arsenal does today). The second goal came off another brilliant play from Peralta and Chicharito which ended in an assist from Peralta to Guardado for the banging goal. After this it seemed like Croatia was starting to pick up the pace, but the same corner-kick tactic was successfully used by Mexico once more which led to a goal by Chicharito. At this point I was levitating into the clouds, it was great goal after great goal and I couldn’t have been happier. Of course, not everything was sunshine and rainbows. After a brilliant play from Croatia, Perišić scored a wonderful goal. This obviously made everyone nervous, but Mexico didn’t let their nerves get the best of them and sealed the victory! Incredible atmosphere, performance, pushing, shoving, intensity, great goals, questionable referee calls, what more can anyone want from a game? I will forever remember this game because it was that damn good, I hope whoever didn’t see it at least goes out of their way to watch some highlights.

Rafa Marquez has a plan, whether that will result in something good is yet to be seen. The starting lineup was an experiment that served as a test for a lot of these “younger talent” and it seems a few of them weren’t up to par. There are lessons to be learned with that first goal that was a very needless mistake by Jeremy Marquez. On the flip side we put a good cross inside the box from Denzel Garcia which Victor Guzman managed to capitalize on. I see a couple names that definitely deserve to play in this team. Overall, much work to be done and the result is disappointing, but we move. ¡Viva Mexico! 🇲🇽

To make matters worse Toluca received a red card and Tigres went straight on the attack and kept scoring. On the negative side though Mariza received a red card and Maricarmen will also miss the next game due to accumulating yellows… anyways I’m happy with the result!

They came back from a 2-0 deficit and managed to turn it around and leave with the 3 points! Toluca today underestimated Santos and paid dearly. This is not to say that they didn’t have opportunities, oh they had a lot, but Santos were more effective. Carlos Acevedo was also on a roll today. Lovely game!

Game lived up to expectations. 2-0 lead was not enough for Chivas and America managed to make a comeback. This game had a little bit of everything, rough tackles, good goals and a couple of “fights.” This is what Liga MX is all about. The biggest teams in Mexico went all out and while I had a 3-2 prediction, I’m glad we got this many goals. The bicycle kick from Borja was a thing of beauty, I don’t think anyone tops that this season. Great game!

Roma seems to be dominating in the first and Manu Koné was putting in a superb performance, but Inter Milan came into the second half and completely shook the balances and evened the score. Lautaro Martinez was on one today as well. I’m a neutral so these games excite me and I have a good time as for some of my mutuals, I know they hated this score.

I mean you have to hand it to Unai Emery. You see a team beaten down so badly and what can you do? Keep beating them up or give them a chance to think they can actually comeback? Aston Villa went with the second option and the game made for an entertaining time. Spurs are not goal-less anymore and Aston Villa get back on track! Win-win.

Juarez2 - 0Tigres UANLYou ever watch a game and you end up astonished by how bad your team is playing? Like it’s not even anger anymore, just a sense of defeat, you just can’t help but laugh. This is what tonight’s game was to me. I’ve been watching Tigres for the longest and there have been some rough times, but even in the late Tuca Ferretti seasons there was a sense of hope. The team had the quality, but just completed the cycle with the coach and it was understandable when he was eventually asked to move aside. This Tigres today however, is a complete embarrassment. You look at the XI and on paper it’s not a bad team, some mid-table(usual) teams would kill to have some of these players in the squad, but when you hear the whistle and the game starts everything is put into perspective. This team lacks heart, will-power, basic tactics and most importantly, quality! It’s amazing how hard a player like Juan Brunetta can carry this team and yet is dragged down by how bad the rest of his teammates are, it’s impressive that he can create something with so little to help him. Tonight we lost against a team that was getting their butts handed to them by every team, even one of the worst teams in the last 5 years- Santos Laguna beat this JUAREZ team. As a Tigres fan you could only breathe a small sigh of relief and think this is where we pick up.. well to our surprise we get a good slap back to reality and end up losing 2-0. Top to bottom this team stinks and it stinks bad, the smell almost comes out of the TV while watching it. Now who’s to blame? The owners, the board of directors, the coach, everyone! These idiots will literally give a press conference and lie to their fans and say the Financial Situation of the club is great! They say they won’t buy just to buy! They say they will look for quality, for a good coach and what do we get? Relegation type players, who are washed or simply can’t carry a team if their lives depended on it.

Yes, I know there were a lot of deficiencies from Union Berlin, but I’m happy that Bayern went all out. The team can’t afford to take the easy route and close off the game. This is a serious club and if the other team isn’t offering resistance then you keep going! Musiala is scoring once again, Kane with his finishing masterclass, and Olise with his incredible talent just destroying Union Berlin. What a performance. Michael Olise is on a different planet right now. The man is creating and scoring. Outside the box? Done. Inside the box? Done. Giving assists? Done. What more can you want from a player when he’s firing on all cylinders?

Solid. Game, Sunderland showed superiority for big chunks of the game, but their finishing was dodgy for the the most part. I was watching for Mateo Chavez and although he didn’t have the best game, I think this competition is vital for a young Mexican talent like him to perform in. This is what many Mexican players don’t understand or don’t care to understand. Playing against someone better than you only helps you in the long run and exposes you to other eyes that might look into your style of play and sign you for said(bigger and better leagues)
