Going from thinking “we're actually beating Argentina” to watching them celebrate while Egypt were eliminated was absolutely heartbreaking. They were so close to creating one of the greatest moments in our football history. 🇪🇬 I don't think I'll ever forget this game

This one really hurts as an Egyptian. After everything Egypt had gone through to reach the final, we were just 120 minutes away from lifting the AFCON trophy. Gabaski/Gabal saved Mané’s early penalty, and it felt like we were close to our eighth. We then lost on penalties 4-2 after 120 minutes of struggle. 😔 In most of the knockout games in this tournament, we went to penalties and won, so at the time I assumed it would be another win on penalties like usual. Sadly, I was wrong. Congratulations to Senegal tho.
