just realised i haven’t written my review of this match, so here it is. the match was alright, nothing special happened aside from spain “almost” losing their winning streak. during the second half, i doubted that croatia would win, even tho croatia was very determined not to allow another disaster after the england match. spain was playing much better, but it wasn’t their full potential. that made me think about the tournament and the number of games in the span of 3 weeks. yeah, thank god the international break is over. yet there’s a problem i think we need to address, the intensity of the matches and how tight the schedule was for players. just look at it: games usually started around 9 pm and lasted till 11 pm. then the team had to change, etc., then the airport OR they went to sleep - yet not for long, since they had to travel the following morning. “recovery” time, then training, and another game. all of this, while also keeping in mind that the club games are coming back soon, and with that, ucl matches. we just witnessed messi’s heartbreaking farewell at the age of 39. modric is still playing at 41, lewy is still playing at 38. and this is impressive as hell, but idk, i can’t shake the feeling that it won’t happen again. players are playing with such an intensity we’ve never seen before, their bodies are being exploited beyond limits. we can already see how tired spanish players were, and it’s not like they’re really old by football standards. how about pau cubarsi? he plays all the time, and he of course delivers, but for how long? idk it seems just wrong to me. all of this yapping aside, bookd chat carried the game as always. ily oomfs.

I just want to start off by saying I’m not a big Argentina fan and that I’m still new to football. I would also like to mention that I know little about what Messi has done in past for his team and this was before I got into football and I’ve only recently started learning more about his story and everything he has been through throughout his career. Reading some of you guys reviews actually made me cry because I can tell that Messi has been a constant source of joy or national hero for you guys. To other people, he’s a footballer, but to many of you, he seems to represent so much more than that. So many memories, so many years of watching him, and such a huge part of your lives. Seeing how emotional this moment is for all of you made me realise just how special his journey with Argentina has been too adn I think it’s really beautiful how one person could bring so much happiness to an entire generation of people. Again I may not have been able to witness everything from the start but I’m glad to be able to be here and at least experience this small part of the story. I hope whatever happens from here, you guys can look back on all those years with pride and happiness. Thank you, Messi, for giving many people (including my friends) memories they will cherish and carry with them forever. Love you guys 🩷

I remember this match and watching it broke my heart seeing how the players were mourning their teammate and friend. Diogo Joto you’ll forever be our #20. Goals were beautiful, even though we conceded. Our future gaffer being amazed by Anfield’s atmosphere and Salah as amazing as usual with his invincible goal. I absolutely loved Heki’s first premier league goal it was electric. Chiesa’s goal really made me feel something and very apparently woke up the whole of Anfield especially since Anfield was in mourning. Seeing Salah tear up at the end, made me cry. This shaky start of the season was clearly an indicator of how this season was going to be one of our worsts for a myriad of reasons. I hate to tell you all Slot fans, but him getting sacked was the right decision, I appreciate him for the league title but other than that, he wasn’t made for Anfield and this season represented that.
