What a way to completely mess up a game by Mexico. The first half should’ve ended very differently, but Mexico’s failure to put the ball behind the net cost them dearly. The second half was what it was and we have to start questioning why a goalkeeper that played in the World Cup a couple of months ago looked like a complete amateur here. Objectively speaking I liked the style Rafa is implementing on the team, but you have to do more. A lot of work to be done because a 3-0 is not the way to go. Croatia1 - 3MexicoOh what a game this was. I still remember it like it was yesterday. This was one of my peak experiences watching football on television. Before the game there was a lot of talk from the Croatian National team and that made for a hell of a motivator for the Mexicans. You could feel the tension from both teams in the first half with a couple of squabbles and hard challenges. One thing about this Mexico squad was that it had chemistry, the midfield was stacked and the duo of Peralta and Dos Santos understood each other well. One strategy from the get go was set-pieces and you can tell very well that Miguel Herrera worked on this because the crosses were hard and precise towards the goalkeeper’s box. This is how the brilliant first goal came from Rafa Marquez after multiple attempts with the same play (very reminiscent of what Arsenal does today). The second goal came off another brilliant play from Peralta and Chicharito which ended in an assist from Peralta to Guardado for the banging goal. After this it seemed like Croatia was starting to pick up the pace, but the same corner-kick tactic was successfully used by Mexico once more which led to a goal by Chicharito. At this point I was levitating into the clouds, it was great goal after great goal and I couldn’t have been happier. Of course, not everything was sunshine and rainbows. After a brilliant play from Croatia, Perišić scored a wonderful goal. This obviously made everyone nervous, but Mexico didn’t let their nerves get the best of them and sealed the victory! Incredible atmosphere, performance, pushing, shoving, intensity, great goals, questionable referee calls, what more can anyone want from a game? I will forever remember this game because it was that damn good, I hope whoever didn’t see it at least goes out of their way to watch some highlights.

Rafa Marquez has a plan, whether that will result in something good is yet to be seen. The starting lineup was an experiment that served as a test for a lot of these “younger talent” and it seems a few of them weren’t up to par. There are lessons to be learned with that first goal that was a very needless mistake by Jeremy Marquez. On the flip side we put a good cross inside the box from Denzel Garcia which Victor Guzman managed to capitalize on. I see a couple names that definitely deserve to play in this team. Overall, much work to be done and the result is disappointing, but we move. ¡Viva Mexico! 🇲🇽

Kane ghosting again but as usual finding a goal from nothing. I love him and the goals he scores but he needs to find the right balance of involvement in a game, as he either gets too involved or not involved at all, both which can affect the performance negatively. Good to see Ngumoha and Scott get on the pitch, two stars that are definitely part of England's future. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Lewis Hall are an effective fullback duo, impressed today and both proving Tuchel wrong about being left out of the World Cup squad in America. MOTM is Anthony Gordon, been up there with Bellingham and Kane performance wise for England as of recent, including his World Cup performances. Maybe Barcelona were right about his price tag all along....
