Well that’s our World Cup journey done. I can confidently say that it went just about as I expected when I realized what group we were in after that win against Bolivia in Guadalupe. However, I am still incredibly proud to have witnessed my country participate in this tournament for only the SECOND time in our HISTORY. I think that this group of players has the potential to do something in the future, as long as we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot. And that really is the best way to describe the three games we’ve played here. Shooting ourselves in the foot. Defensive error after defensive error after defensive error. Hopefully in the future, we don’t bottle our qualifying group, so that we don’t end up in the last chance qualifier and seeded to the group of death. I mean, had we not bottled it, we would have been in Jordan’s place, and potentially have an easier group stage run. Not much to say specifically about this game, we conceded early to a set piece (shock) and then received a red card to kill off any hope.

so out go iraq and scotland then 💔 if scotland had to get knocked out by this games winner i would’ve much preferred it was iraq but sadly that wasn’t the case. iraq have definitely got the potential to do much better in future tournaments, they just need to stop the errors in defensive. i don’t think anybody would have expected them to make it out of the group stage but to have still been in with a shot until their final group game was really impressive considering their opponents. i do think it had a lot to do with senegal playing quite poorly against both norway and france but hey thats not iraqs fault. to get put into that group in just your second ever world cup is a fate nobody should have to endure, and a group that even most teams who have a stronger world cup background wouldn’t want to be in. i have no doubts we’ll see them at another world cup in the future. on scotland now we know we’re out, 28 years since our last world cup, the first in my lifetime. people will see it as another time we’ve failed to make it out of the group stage but honestly seeing those men proudly represent the country i too am so proud to be from is one of the best feelings ever. never gave up in any of our games, even when 3-0 down to brazil. that first win against haiti made me feel a pride i’ve never felt before. even against morocco losing 1-0 we still showed fighting spirit and a grit and determination you can only admire. getting to watch my dad see his country in a world cup again and experience that with him is one of the best memories we have shared together. people may laugh at us now but what we’ve showed in this tournament showed that we aren’t willing to back down and that we have a very strong group of guys who are willing to do anything for the country. i have absolutely no doubt that we won’t need to wait another 28 years to see scotland in another world cup. we will be back.🏴🏴 genuinely started crying writing this ❤️🏴

Senegal

The most one sided match I have seen in a while and of course the red card has a huge impact in this. Senegal are definitely not a weak team but they got put in the group of death but as expected they were able to get out of it to the knockout stage. The bangers in this match made me speechless, but that happened only because Jackson got benched btw.. 🇸🇳🇮🇶

Senegal

Senegal came into this game with a mission and they definitely accomplished that. Unfortunate for Iraq getting that early goal against, some clumsy defending but it didnt go their way in that set piece. Than the idiocy of getting a red card in that position, just so so stupid. Killed the game for them and had to just defend from that point with no hope of survival. Going into half time with 1-0 was impressive, disappointing to then still lose 5-0. Senegal really deserved it though they were very dominant, and scored some really great goals. Regardless of that Iraq did decent this tournament, nothing was expected in this group and they did get blown out 3 times but if some things went their way it wouldve looked a lot closer. Just important to build on this and be back even stronger in 4 years. Not entirely sure who Senegal will play, theyll be hoping it changes still because currently they face England. I think theyll be playing either Colombia/Portugal or Egypt though, so that should be a much better game for them. Man of the match for Papa Gueye, played just under 40 minutes and got 2 goals and a assist. Also fuck Mane for grooming a child.
