Leeds were very consistent today but Arsenal just got the best of them. Standouts for the Gunners were Odegaard, Raya, Calafiori and Guimares. Saka and Gyokeres were both really poor today in front of goal. Stach and Tanaka also played exceptionally on the opposing side, with props to James Justin for that great opener. Overall, the tactics are the star for this game as Arteta’s movements after going behind were a real kick up the arse (pun somewhat intended).

Everyone raves about the 2009 and 2011 Barcelona teams, but in my opinion it was the Luis Enrique treble winners that I think are the best footballing side I’ve ever bared witness to. This game had to be their star performance. All the accumulation of amazing football came together for Barca in this one, even a team as good as their opponents in Juventus just could not stand a chance. Impeccable.
Marine0 - 5TottenhamMaddest mismatch in modern football history? Marine of the eighth tier deciding to show up against Spurs was a really mad one to watch go down. This was during the pandemic, but Marine technically had fans because their ground was in the middle of a street and all the neighbours decided to show up for them. It worked out to a degree, but Carlos Vinicius decided to play out of his skin (or at his level, depending on who you talk to) and get his first (and only) Tottenham hat-trick on the night. Still a fun game to go back to regardless of the predictable result.

Both teams had fairly ineffective attacks. Slovenia were slightly better in the first half and then Scotland looked stronger in the second. Oblak had a great performance making a few saves and I’d say Scotland should have brought Gannon-Doak on earlier because he was fairly effective when he was on.

Slow start for Zidane. Türkiye were arguably outplaying to em in the first half and for the start of the second. Guler was everywhere specifically and I gave him my POTM. Going a goal down and then a man down when their keeper got a straight red really hurt them. It really felt like they ended up being ineffective for the rest of the game, but the French will take a hard fought victory here. Get well soon, Kylian!

We were genuinely outplayed for the whole 90. We were good defensively for most of the game and started picking up the pace a bit in the second half but after they got their goal we fell apart. If it wasn’t for Kelleher, we would have lost maybe 2-0 or 3-0. Trying to mount a comeback with the players we had on the bench was laughably ineffective. Just not good. Perhaps you could say absolute shite.

This is one of my earliest memories of football in general, I was just under four years old when it went down and i somehow still remember it like it was yesterday. Arshavin scoring four at our backyard only being matched by Torres and Benayoun. I’d argue this game was what cost us the league that season, but hell at least we lost it with honour.

Really fun Portuguese league game to get back into the league with. Porto found an early lead with former youth prospect Gabri Veiga. Lenglet went off with a second yellow which I personally disagreed with and thought was rather soft. Afterwards, Benfica dragged one back but the man advantage for Porto was too much and they overran them later on. Really fierce and competitive one regardless and I am glad I got to watch this one to cap off a good run of club football going into the international break.

Tactical disasterclass from both teams but slightly less so from Atletico. Real never really looked in it especially after going a goal and man down, but that late Rudiger consolation had Atleti shitting bricks and running around like headless chickens. Is this the year Diego "Walk 'Em Down" Simeone shatters the Clasico hegemony at the top of La Liga once more?
Bournemouth0 - 1LiverpoolWe scraped to a win here, but a win is a win at the end of the day. Isak and Gakpo's link-up looked strong as it has been of recent weeks and Wirtz, while still having a lot to show for himself, looked much better than usual. Barcola I admit was not great, and I was unsurprised when he was replaced by Munoz. In defence, Kerkez did not look good even as someone who has defended his recent performances. The other three of Van Dijk, Jacquet and Araujo however looked great with the latter working well to give balls to Gakpo. Alisson was also superb making some really important stops and worked well against Bournemouth's set pieces. Szobozslai is good as usual and the team looked particularly great when the midfield three had him in the 10 ahead of Nyoni and Mac Allister. I'd argue that should be our main three in midfield from here on out.

Celtic were poor today, and lucky to have only lost by one goal. Rangers desperately needed these back-to-back Old Firm wins and if they keep the momentum up they’ll definitely be up there making the title fight a three horse race again.

Serie A is always just randomly entertaining for the big games. Inter running a third straight comeback from two down is awesome to watch, either team could win the Scudetto this year and Inter could have a potential Champions League charge if they can just sort their defence out a bit. Yao Ming cheered when he saw the state of modern Italian football.

Best players were Mac Allister (who was everywhere), Mamardashvili and Koumas. Players are finding their form again after last season and the youth players are getting their shit in. Dom worldy was just the icing on the cake.
