28 she/her Football and Farsi were my first two languages. The first World Cup I watched was 2006. Lover of total football
Spain1 - 0Argentina
there is something so magical about football something in the way football strings its unique emotions, something in the way football relates us, something in the way football seeds these ridiculous dreams we sacrifice our bodies and souls for, something in the way football reflects the human experience's beautiful intricacies, something in the way football feels more human than anything else in the world football is the thing in my life that has made me feel the most human, dream the most, relate the most... and to have found a community of beautiful people who feel the same about football and to watch the tournament emulating that something magical about football together... it's a dream. it means the world. thank you all of you for being on bookd this world cup 💚

USA2 - 0Australia
excellent carry through from freeman and irvine, frustratingly slow wait for that US chemistry to build but they played a much tighter more cohesive match than Australia did. disappointed lowkey in the aussies, didn’t feel they showed all they could’ve done despite a couple near misses - their coordination was off, defense like Swiss cheese, empty dynamic space not being utilized.. loved the mystery elixir the ref used to lock in at the end

As a third-country kid growing up, I never felt any connection to the US. My grandparents came from El Salvador, my family danced salsa, our culture was a different blend, and we watched a sport my friends never cared for. Add that to the weird looks we’d get in public and the hurtful laws and policies that have been passed, it became near impossible to celebrate this country in any sport. But then you see someone like Ricardo Pepi get on the team, a player with the last name “Zendejas” score a worldly, starters with Brazilian and German accents on the pitch and you realize that these people reflect your dream: to be human and to be accepted for who you are. I’m not proud of where this country is at, but God, seeing this group of diverse background put on THIS performance is something worth rooting for. This is what the US is really about. I pray that becomes true in our day. A game I’ll hold close for a long time ❤️
