i really don’t think any tournament will ever come close to this one for me. the crowds, the players, the commentary. everything about it is so memorable and brings back the joy this tournament brought. winning it was one thing but the way these players won it was just insane, some of the best football i’ve ever seen us play. this group of players was a special special group and my favourite for sure. the way they amped the crowd after every tackle, but stayed calm and collected. the way they fought for every ball and never gave up. the comeback vs spain, and the winner vs germany are two of the highlights of not only this tournament but all football i’ve watched. you could tell this meant a lot to the players and that the players were hungry to win this and would do anything to make sure they did. everything was near perfect in this tournament, the tactical side of it from sarina was the best we’ve seen from her. i don’t think anyone will ever be able to replicate what this tournament brought for england, nor the way they won it. winning a home euros was always gonna feel special, especially as our first euros win, but the change it brought for women’s football across the country was monumental, and rewatching it you can tell why. even only being 1-0 up it felt comfortable we would win because these players were giving their all into defending the lead. this squad will always hold a special place for me, bus also for women’s football in general, especially in england for the things they did for the WSL. leah williamson, keira walsh and especially beth meads performance in this tournament cannot be overstated, the whole squad were perfect but those 3 were key players for me that we don’t win without.

“the true value of bragging rights is about to unfold” as we casually beat them 5-1. mcgowan was so perfect for that first goal bro, darren barr scored 2 goals for us in his three years and both were against hibs, he’s a legend in my eyes. jambos were on top for the whole first half bro hibs were shit even 14 years ago and it’s peak to watch tbh, can’t stand the twats hibs fraud mcpake has nothing on our josh mcpake skacels first goal was fucking insane, shot from outside the box into the corner of the goal fucking insane. this being his last game for the team and scoring such a fucking good goal WOW hearts penalty and a hibs red card FUCK i can’t imagine the elation that day 💔 stunning penalty too wow FOURTH GOAL IS STILL INSANE 14 YEARS LATER WHAT THE FUCK i remember watching that goal when i was like 6 with my dad dude omg the assist is just INSANEEEEE who else for the winner but rudi skacel 😍😍 i was 4 when he left and he’s still one of my fav players for us, goal should never have managed to go in but he’s just such a good player paulo sergio 🤩🤩🤩 Marius Zaliukas was such a good player, 7 years a jambo and forever immortalised as our player and captain and forever our 26❤️ upset i was too young to get to see him play more and remember him but its jus such a sad story 💔 means so much to get to see him lift the scottish cup as our captain though ❤️ ts just reminds me how much i love this team man follow the hearts and you can’t go wrong though some say that celtic and rangers are grand but the boys in maroon are the best in the land ❤️ POTM would be rudi skacel of course
Utah Royals2 - 1North Carolina Courageutah had the better start for sure, sanchez had a shot that she just hit too high but other than that we weren’t really a threat. utah had the offside cloe lacasse shot that was an INSANE save from kailen and then she managed to stay onside for her next shot and man it was a good goal i cant even complain, and at least if we had to concede it was cloe. in fairness courages forwards have done so so good this season to the extent that despite losing our last 2 and being a goal down i still could see us getting something out of this. utah were pressing the hell out of us and we just don’t look content at all. penalty call looked a bit shaky for a second but i’m glad we got it and i’m so so happy for ashley sanchez now being the join record holder for most goals in an NWSL season and she didn’t even need the extra 4 expansion games 😭❤️ second half started fairly evenly but nothing really of note happened. utah goal was just devastating man it was fairly evenly before it but it was good build up play for the goal i can’t even complain. think today was one of erica megs “worst” game, and im using worst in a very harsh way today, but she wasn’t bad at all. think the substitute shows this too she just wasn’t herself today which is disappointing cause her form lately is arguably one of the best in the league. a third 2-1 loss straight just isn’t good enough, we gotta start learning from our mistakes and not just letting them happen again. result put a dampener on ash sanchez achievement but nothing can be taken away from the stellar season she has had. just immaculate. POTM for me is ash sanchez cause she tied the record i don’t give a fuck

NetherlandsFeyenoord W4 - 1Vålerenga Wthink we started really well tbh, first half was mostly us attacking them, but they did have a few good moments, early goal was definitely earned from valerenga. we had 3 really close together chances around 30 minutes in, one that we had to do better with, valerengas defence was sloppy and those are the moments we gotta capitalise on, the second was just a long shot that we missed completely and was never really a threat for valerenga, third was a great shot and an even better save in fairness to birkisdottir. we were definitely the better team in the first half. think our equaliser was a bit lucky, managed to sneak past every defender and into the goal tbf. big fan of the celebration with the subs. Torri dellaperuta is just in such good form lately second half started well, early goals set the tone for the rest of the second half, and who else would it be but torri della peruta! TDP had a header to a pretty much open net from a couple of feet out and somehow missed, anyone but her and i’d be calling for a sub out of annoyance, but you can’t be annoyed at a player in her form. 3rd goal was just superb, tidy goal, insane finish. lovely long shot from outside the box. game seemed to die off a bit after the third from a feyenoord perspective, still managed to score a 4th, good goal tbf very good, bad from valerenga, the pass forward toward the box was way too easy, and the final assist pass was just awful defending. favourite goal was by far Kirsten van de Westeringh, just a gooood shot from distance POTM is so obviously torri, just insane atm, best season of her career already, bright season ahead for her.

FeyenoordNorth Carolina Courage1 - 2NJ/NY Gothamgame started off very even with an argument that courage even started better than gotham which i wasn’t expecting at all tbh, this gotham team have been goood. not even surprised that gotham scored first tbh, first real attempt and they’ve scored from it, defence has gotta do better she was so open, nobody blocking her at all, one defender back bro. missing maycee bell more than expected, and i expected to miss her badly. we just don’t seem as comfortable defensively without her man. i hate offsides. such a pointless thing bro. just stop the attacker from getting ahead of you why are we punishing the attacker that you can’t defend them properly?? how is that their fault cuh?? other than the bogus offside call we did actually not look too bad offensively, defensively we kinda suck ngl, desperately need maycee bell and nat jacobs back bro. gotham haven’t been toooo threatening but definitely look better than us for the most part. first half was less than optimal but we weren’t bad yk man! things could still happen, you can never rule us out when we have ash sanchez. you can rule us offside though fucking hell bro really do think a lot of it was just awful awful luck what can i say, luck can win or lose you games clearly erica meg is genuinely one of the best players in the nwsl atm, the girl is 19, works her literal ASS OFF in every area of the pitch, isn’t afraid to make a tackle when needed and is good defensively and offensively. watching her play you’d think she’d been with the team for years, the fact she’s so young and so new to the team and the league is truly so impressive, i feel like every review i have a bit dedicated to her but she’s truly deserving of it she’s insanely good in and out of possession, not many players at her age, if any, could do what she’s doing so consistently. you can tell she’s tiring towards the end of games but, again, she’s 19 she has plenty of time to get used to the amount of football she’s playing.
