successful prediction match (that i didn’t even watch 🤭) currently waiting at the front of the line at Mario Kart whilst writing this review - definitely enjoyed the (mostly) fun chat as always 🫦

Lyon
Fenerbahçe1 - 1Lyon
Biases aside Fenerbahçe looked a lot more potent that Lyon. But in all honestly don’t let the scoreline fool you this was a boring game. Chat carried.

Would’ve been 1 star since I hate seeing Fenerbahçe walk away with anything but a loss but #him scoring really soured the entire match for me
Fenerbahçe1 - 1Lyon
Besides that its just a disappointing game the dirty fucking cunt also scored so fuck this whole game. Lost interest after he scored and mostly watched Zagreb instead.

Youd think this “superteam” plus a criminal would smack Lyon at home and yet they lost 0-1

Lyon

PSG2 - 1Aston Villaexpected a battering, got a good performance

PSG2 - 1Aston VillaDrunk raoul is fuming we lost, played unreal and deserved another goal. but, the neutral in me adored PSG‘s performance and I’m very lucky to have watched it in person

PSG2 - 1Aston VillaPSG wasn’t even better than Villa, which is surprising to say the least looking at both starting elevens. Especially in the second half Villa became much more dangerous. Madjo did great, usually makes the right decisions as well when to pass and such. A interesting case for PSG, not really sure what they’ll do this season. They looked okay this game but it really wasn’t anything special at all. Third time in a row seems unlikely to me. I have watched a fair few friendlies of Villa, so i have seen Brian Madjo show his class already while many haven’t. First of all he is the youngest player to start a UEFA Super Cup game, and second of all he’s the youngest to score in a UEFA Super Cup game. Just in this game you could see his talent already, he doesn’t need many touches to be dangerous. Mostly a bit unlucky but he could’ve definitely scored more, and he’s 17, those goals will come eventually. George Hemmings is a huge talent too, was decent this game so hopefully he will be part of the first team throughout the season. Matty Cash was the worst player on the pitch by a mile though, especially his mistake in the offside trap was dreadful. Im excited about Villa this season though, i was already planning to watch them a lot because i just love teams managed by Unai Emery, but its just such a fun team as well with a huge talent in the team too. I suppose Désiré Doué deserves man of the match for goal and assist, kinda just don’t wanna give it to a PSG player because i thought Villa was slightly better, but i’ll do it anyway. Madjo is up there though, he missed chances and whatever but he was so good this game against the best team in Europe. Shoutout to John McGinn too, what a player.
Middlesbrough1 - 0Wrexham
THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!!!!!! Wow a great start to the season despite it only being the cup. Began to worry that this was a typical performance but it seems we’ve signed an actual striker in Lankshear who can actually score. Malanda was fantastic in his makeshift postion. Arfsten had a decent debut, needs some work whilst Berhalter is an absolute gem, likely down to him being here longer( his ability to put the ball in the box is fantastic). We set the tone for the season, can’t wait for the proper stuff to start next week! UTB

Only watched 2nd half so i consider myself lucky because the 1st half was apparently worse lmao. Really great finish but not too much happening besides that.

Bayern2 - 1Aston Villagame was kinda buns and we were kinda ass, their first goal was offside but calma, joao gomes x kamara pivot excites me but on the other hand there’s a certain player who is pretending to be a footballer. still can’t pick a potm for some reason from villa but i’d go with bouba :)

turns out the DP (director of photography) found better things to showcase, than the actual match itself 😵💫
Austin2 - 0Club Tijuana
Really dodgy refereeing all game, ref definitely went on a power trip with the red. Still no clue what happened. Rough game from Tijuana but also just proves that there should be more games played in Mexico too, too many games are played in usa. Reckon they wouldve looked a lot better at home. Regardless 19 shots and 3 on target is dreadful.

Ajax3 - 1Shelbourne
Long review 🥳 I watched this while at family dinner to get away from all the noise lmao, very good game from us. It still takes some getting used to honestly because usually we are shit and look awful, but it genuinely feels like theres a plan. I’d name some but it genuinely is just everyone, but specifically Godts, Berghuis, Bouwman, Blind, Regeer, Wijndal, and Gaaei. Only Paes was bad (shocking), and Gloukh was meh he should’ve scored at least once. Beach was incredible for Shelbourne. Klaassen with his 400th appearance for the club, 14 years and 257 days after his debut. Mister 1-0 himself, he has received a fair share of hate over the years for being too old or too slow, but I will never hate him, he is honestly one of the biggest icons for this club, 400 games is absolutely insane. Only 203 more to go to equal Mister Ajax, Sjaak Swart. Also had 5.98 xG which is the most we created since January 2022 against a amateur club in the cup, i think that says a lot. 2021-22 was our last real dominant season so im very happy we return to stats like that. Hopeful for this year. What i found interesting was that Gaaei started, generally Michel has one attacking player, our left back in this case, with a more defensive right back in Rosa to form a 3 at the back. Gaaei did that now who is wayyy more offensive, but he did it well, and also was able to move up the pitch much quicker due to his already offensive nature. May have worked well too because Shelbourne played 541 so generally can take more risks. Brandt more as a attacking Klaassen type, on the right side so technically Gloukh could play with that if we ever try that. Thought Regeer did good, i have had my complaints about him but he does play well, recognizes the dangers easily especially notices where the dangers are when defenders move up and leave space. Ill have Godts as man of the match because he was incredibly dangerous all game. I hope he stays, i will genuinely cry a bit if he leaves 😭
Olympiakos Piraeus0 - 0NEC Nijmegen
Long review time again because i love my country. Not the best game but im proud of NEC, i think there wasnt too much hope of a good performance in the UCL from most people, at least from Dutch perspective. With Sano suddenly not being available, bit weird how that went, he already was in Greece and said he wanted to play both games with NEC, but ends up leaving early for his medical at PSV tomorrow. Kinda scummy imo. Tactically NEC is obviously great, super aggressive with their pressing just like last season. But its early season, i dont know if that will continue to go well once you get midweek games until at least January. Started rough this game but really picked themselves up after that. Seeing Tadic again was sad, wish he just joined us again but oh well, also funny seeing Emre Mor again, fifa 17 wonderkid. Tobias Storm played well, exciting player. Crettaz, Nejasmic, and Sandler amazing as ever. I really hope they can do something next week, one thing i do know is that it will have a incredible atmosphere in De Goffert. Fun stat is that they are the first team since PSV in 2021 against Midtjylland to have a clean sheet in a away game in the UCL. Man of the match could either be Popovic for good goalkeeping, or Nejasmic who was just incredible at midfield for NEC, so ill go with Nejasmic.
BG Pathum United1 - 3Aston Villathe goat scored. bouba is back. madjo is no longer illegal. life is good
