Racing Santander2 - 2Villarreal
3 insane goals and 1 penalty, all action first half. The blitz tactics from Santander were really fun to watch, overloading in attacking areas to seemingly surprise Villarreal. After about 40 minutes, there was a clear drop off from Racing, probably caused by the intense start, which meant they shipped two right before halftime. It was great to see the Racing defensive discipline in the second half after the capitulation at the end of the first. Overall, a strong effort vs the third place team in La Liga 2025-26. If you had told me Racing got a draw out of this before the game, I’d have signed up for that every day of the week. Having led 2-0 though, there is a slight bitter taste in the mouth.

This one went off the rails in the last ten minutes; Austin take the 3 points somehow after looking much worse for 80 minutes (Argentina??). The 100 degree (38 for you celsioids) heat probably caught up to Seattle at that point in the game and they lost focus and composure because of it.

Spain absolutely dominated these frauds omg. Messi nowhere to be seen, Enzo idiot mode, Romero somehow got a yellow card on the bench bc of course he did 😂😂 hatewatch complete 🤩 This game was decided by Nico Williams for me. When he came on, Spain actually looked like scoring. He had an incredible assist for Torres and scored what should have been a goal. Yamal lowkey stunk it up a bit, like all tournament. Rodri, as usual, was massive in the middle. Merino also should be mentioned as being really solid when he came on, with a game saving clearance and a straight to the face block. I genuinely thought after about 80 minutes that would be pens and Argentina win. Thank you Spain for saving football. They played to an extremely high standard all tournament, and deserved this World Cup. Lastly, shoutout Cabo Verde for holding these guys to a draw in 90 mins. We love you Cabo Verde

If Courtois isn’t injured, we are in extra time, kind of a shame. Belgium really did look up for it today. I also thought Fabian was excellent, and was confused why the manager thought Pedri was needed in his place.
