I was rooting for France, but god, what a FUUUUUUCKING GOOOOOD MATCH!!!!! had to rewatch it because when I started watching right before halftime I was SHOCKED at the score. The absolute tension in that stadium when it was 4-5 in the last couple of minutes was genuinely a physical reaction. Mbappe - what a guy. What a goddamn good player. Watching his desperation/determination at the end was devastating, I could FEEL how badly he wanted to help his team. The England players were in rare excellent form, such a good form and such a great amount of goals and possession that it made me wonder why they can’t play like this all of the time. Bellingham and Mbappe are truly tied for POTG, but truly have to give it to Jude because holy shit

was happy to see santos get a bit of pitch to get comfortable in! not my fave start for Man U but i know we got this. i expected more tbh out of zirkzee but hoping to see more goals than yellow cards for him in the future! didn’t love fletcher’s plays for the majority of game and wished he told the boys to stay tighter but props because of the obvious skill increase of the defense here, whatever drills he has them running WILL result in wins!! i can smell it!!
Uzbekistan1 - 3Colombiawatched this in a Colombian restaurant with the flag wrapped around my shoulders and my soul left my body three beautiful times. colombia v Uzbekistan was an excellent game in terms of being eventful, being frustrating, being exciting and thrilling and full of almost-so-close-oh-my-god moments. obviously i am biased as this was an excellent debut for colombia, but that 3rd goal by campaz was a thing of beauty. the absolute menace of luis diaz FIGHTING to keep that ball in play to create a moment of absolute brilliance was not just a great moment in futbol but also a much needed boost to the enthusiasm and faith in la seleccion post their poor performance in the preliminaries/friendlies and the team in-fighting. 3 stars because even if Scotland lost in a v disappointing way and the referee needs to get investigated for bias, the lads gave Morocco one hell of a run for more than half the match. applied pressure that they just couldn’t clinch in the end, too many near misses and too many almost finishes. Ultimately that Saibari goal in the first 70 seconds set the tone for what ended up in desperate and chaotic play. real underdog match, and i was rooting for the underdogs here (even if the ref was actively rooting against them). Good performance on behalf of gunn and bounou as keepers, more especially gunn doing his best to not let those 70 seconds and following attempts gain any more momentum. ultimately not enough and somehow ended up with a slow at times inconsistent and choppy performanc with a couple moments of brilliance

excellent carry through from freeman and irvine, frustratingly slow wait for that US chemistry to build but they played a much tighter more cohesive match than Australia did. disappointed lowkey in the aussies, didn’t feel they showed all they could’ve done despite a couple near misses - their coordination was off, defense like Swiss cheese, empty dynamic space not being utilized.. loved the mystery elixir the ref used to lock in at the end
