another frustrating watch as a bay fan…Seattle have been on a really good heater since the season started its second half and the way they’re playing football has been so, so good. They read bay so easily - for example, when two bay players pressure on the ball, the player with the ball quickly passes it to the unmarked teammate and everyone in Seattle switches instantly to counterattack. And they also intercepted a lot of bay’s passes (bay also made stupid sloppy passes too). I feel for collins. I don’t think she is well equipped to be a starter player and I always wonder how she ended up as team captain but I guess we don’t know what goes on in the locker room and I have to respect the decision from the team. 2 quick goals from Seattle in the first half due to really bad and slow decisions from the backline. the worst technical decision was made from emma coates. I get wanting to sub in dahlkemper every 80’ minute now but there are some games where we should keep our hot players on when we could’ve had a chance to keep a tie game. actually when I saw dahlkemper about the sub in, I was thinking if the odds of her getting smoked by a Seattle player was high and lo and behold, she did get smoked by goddamn jess fishlock 😫 very happy for bebar and barry for getting their first nwsl goals in their careers!! Both of which were such fun goals too. really hope we can figure things out for next game. Losing 3 games in a row fucking sucks.

sheesh nc courage were fed up with themselves and proved it by showing up and out against pride at home. ijeh with her first hatrick in the league! it looked like everything really clicked well for them after they made suitable adjustments following the last couple losses. orlando are just bums without banda. idk but if i were pride i would prob sack seb hines bc if your roster solely relies on one player, you’re doing a pretty shit job mate.

tough game - so many close chances but gotham read us easily. I was frustrated with a couple things this game. 1) don’t ever start Girelli again. She’s not the same as she was in juventus and she’s struggling to keep up with the league and pace. She’s too slow, her touches too hard, her passes too gentle. Wish she could’ve been subbed out sooner but maybe she had to play a full 75’ bc the Italian manager was visiting and huff is also on minutes restriction following a foot injury for the past few weeks. 2) center ref needs to OPEN his eyes and pay attention. offsides is whatever - that’s just a frustrating rule that has to many different subsets of rules. But exactly in the 20’ minute, Gotham player committed a handball in the attacking third and it literally happened like 2 feet in front of him I can’t fucking believe he didn’t call it. The fans and players on that corner of the pitch were YELLING and so was I. I partially lost my voice this game. According to sofascore, this is the center ref’s 3rd overall game recorded. Christ help us silky is so fucking clutch that her last minute save with a 1 on 1 with dudley got me jumping out of my seat. She is the answer to uswnt’s goalie problem. 0-1 is better than the last time we played them which was 0-3 so I guess this is fine. If wafcon happened earlier and we had Rudy, things might’ve looked very different. Also here’s the pic of the ref covering his mouth during the VAR review. Rules for me but not for thee~ I guess 🙄

Houston Dash1 - 0Bay FCbay should’ve capitalized on the chances they had but unfortunately they kept the ball too long and didn’t pass the ball quick enough. there was one opportunity conti could’ve dribbled into an open lane in Houston’s pk box but she second guessed herself and wasted a chance. Aggravating. first half was really bad from them and barely got better in the second half. last week’s game vs today’s game looked completely different. have to wonder if rudy’s absence was also a factor for it. props to Houston for pressing us quick and fast - prob watched the film pretty well. If only jane campbell can play this good at national level.
Bay FC3 - 0North Carolina Couragefirst game back on home pitch since the summer break - 55 days!!!! we were all hungry to be back together, both fans and players alike and today’s game really proved it especially coming from the players. I think maybe just several minutes into this game, something felt different about this bay team when they had possession. There have been bits and pieces of this feeling in the first half of this season and rarely felt in the last two seasons but that feeling was massively consistent in this game specifically. When bay had possession, they actually knew what to do with the ball! passes clicked, off-ball movement had intention, high pressure defense was really, really good. If bay got dispossessed, they tried damn hard to win it back. this was what I’ve been wanting to see from bay and boy it did not disappoint. emma coates pretty much says what I want to say in the post-game conference. wish I could give multiple POTMs. Lema for the 2-minute brace, Moreau for the insane defensive play, Silky for 2 clean sheets in a row. The entire midfield changing the game for us UGH I weep at the thought of how young our midfield is and how INCREDIBLE they are and they’re not even at their peak yet!!! what the hell! 🥹😭 massive shout out to emma coates though. She’s brought something to bay fc that we really needed. It’s definitely a work in progress but undoing what montoya and lucy rushton did (or didn’t do) will be a lot of work bc those two fucked up a lot of things. some pics from the game from my season ticket seats! and have to include the starting xi roll call clip as it’s always fucking hype. bonus halftime corgi race (corgi named captain won).

I get that a couple ref calls were horrible but you’re part of the coaching staff, be a good leader and set good examples for the team. honestly, utah have been a very unlikeable team since the start and that idiotic childish shit proved my case.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS LEGEND PEDRO PORRO!!! kind of a boring game but real talk though it is quite funny how spain keeps beating france in their recent match ups. how france get read so easily by spain is embarrassing for them, but also its giving barcalona heritage over mbappe’s madrista dictator vibes lol. france with a poor showing in this semifinal is quite irritating - no fight, no connection, no seriousness. how they just let pedro porro slip by them is the saddest play of football I’ve seen from them. what a shame. everyone in spain wanted it more and I guess that was the main difference. sad way for france to lose, great times for spain to reach their finals.

sad bc this is the last game of this tournament i’ll be able to watch live. disappointing from argentina. what could and should’ve been a better game from them, they decided to fuck around and find out instead. is it in the argentine blood to always play sufferball and by extension give their fans high blood pressure when watching them play? and with a ref this shitty, he’s not helping the stupid “var/fifa” allegations on argentina which have been stupidly irritating and tiresome. can’t say much else about this game except for a few things: 1) macallister’s stupid shaved head with the header goal was probably an omen to start for this match 2) breel embolo’s whole schtick this game still gets to me. i’ll randomly remember the whole thing and giggle about it. i’m giggling as i type this out right now lol (and he and his manager still won’t accept what he did was his fault) 3) what the fuck was julian’s goal? what kind of absolutely stunning, beautiful goal - perfectly placed right in the top corner where kobel barely got his gloves to touch it. kobel had been incredible this game that he annoyed me so much. what a fucking strike from araña. anyways, argentina may god and the càbalas help you in the semis bc neither you nor scaloni are brave enough as you were in 2022 which is why you’re suffering every knockout round game. so please be fucking serious and do this for messi.

disappointing game from norway as they only had one plan the whole tournament and that was to pass the ball to haaland or get the ball to him somehow and hope for the best. that may have worked against the previous teams they went against and with luck that they made it this far, based on the fact that the teams just forgot to mark a 6’5 hulking blonde norwegian on their backline. unfortunately for them, england were never going to make that mistake and tuchel probably drilled it down to the defenders to never take their eyes of haaland. in hindsight, this will be an aggravating game for norway to look back on because they had a real chance in the first half. once the second half came, norway just looked out of options. passing to their only target was impossible and even then i have to question why didn’t haaland move around more? or be part of the movement when they had possession? there are many things to be exasperated about but especially thinking if only sorloth got over his ego, looked up, and passed to haaland who had a wide open shot he could strike in so fast and powerful it would’ve left pickford stunned. props to england who pushed norway to sub haaland out - and ironically subbed in dan burn in just to rub the salt in norway’s wound - and bellingham who scored a brace. this england team is unlike their previous rosters from prior world cups; they’re better and more cohesive with a manager who knows a lot more with what he wants from his squad.

Would like to joke about Harvey and chatgpt but seriously, Seattle absolutely clicked today. Hope they can keep this up for the rest of the season bc that was fun to watch. As for Portland, I’m not quite sure what happened to them. The midfield was a mess and nothing was going their way. Coming off a really good run only to get shutout in seattle is tough, especially knowing this is one of the deeper rivalries if not THE rivalry of nwsl. POTM to Cassie Miller for those clutch saves. Not sure why she’s not on the roster here on bookd.

NJ/NY GothamRacing Louisville0 - 2Bay FClooks like bay learned from last week’s game against Boston and didn’t fall for the complacency trap! there were some odd moments where it looked like louisville were about to slip through but bay’s chaotic clusterfuck defense in their third just managed keep a clean sheet. Last clean sheet was back in early may against san diego (1-0), so it’s nice to see we got 2 goals up now. sometimes they still look disjointed but great hustle from everyone - wish I could choose all of them for POTM. gotta feel for louisville. my friend and I agree that it looks like no one wants to be on the team anymore. don’t know what or how it’s gonna change but it’s a bit sad and honestly scary to see. Hope bay can keep this momentum going into next week’s game against nc courage. even without manaka, they looked real good against seattle. bay is known for having inconsistent games in a row unfortunately. she’s not on the roster here, but my POTM is kennedy fuller since she got her first bay goal and was at the right place at the right time.

I went 2-1 colombia prediction for this game and I should’ve listened to my gut to do 1-0 colombia instead, even when they lost bc both teams have been so low scoring except for like 1 game against easy teams. I’m bummed for colombia. for such a talented roster, they just can’t seem to put their shots to the back of the net. Horrible finishing bit them hard in the butt real bad and cost them their World Cup journey.

I had to rewatch this game hours later after the final whistle because I simply could not comprehend what had happened and was also feeling pulled in by the commentary from all over. I legit think I blacked out after Messi’s goal and even then I still thought Egypt had better odds of winning bc frankly, I have very little confidence in Argentina this World Cup. Rewatching this game was necessary to 1) breakdown tactics/plays from both teams, 2) digest what happened starting at the 75’ minute, and 3) have my own opinion on the calls (or non calls). First half Argentina was atrocious particularly bc Enzo and macallister have been having a terrible run of form this tournament and the squad have been heavily reliant on running the ball through messi again. Both of those are a recipe for disaster in addition to their terrible gaps for counter attacking plays. Egypt knew what to do, exploited those weaknesses and made 2 easy goals through very beautiful plays - even when one was disallowed from a late VAR call (which was a foul, but when it was called was bad). However, the moment messi moved back to his RW position and gave a beautiful service for cuti’s statement header, that was when Egypt started to crack. 10 minutes later, they concede another goal from messi this time and at that point, that is on Egypt’s tactical breakdown. Argentina’s 3rd goal seems to be contentious. Should there have been a VAR review for Alvarez’s tackle on Salah in the box? Yes. But was it a foul? No, bc Alvarez got the ball first, tapped Salah’s foot and Salah was diving for a call (it was not subtle at all). After a rewatch and reading/hearing comments from fans, players, managers, this game is simply a testament of Argentina’s experience on the world stage and their will to come back stronger. Conceding 2 goals in 10 minutes is simply bad game plan with complacency. It’s easy to point the blame when there’s an easy villain to yell at but at this point, own up to your mistakes.

It has me thinking about what ifs as well. what if they didn’t recall the red card - would they have played better? it is impossible to separate politics from football, even moreso when our country has a facist, racist narcissist running the country and blabbing his mouth that he overturned the call when he probably didn’t do shit. the news/media coverage on this overturned call was a lot and I have to wonder if this played into the players psychologically, in particularly Balogun. I wouldn’t blame them if it did because these athletes are only human and all they want to do is play the sport they love. I have shared that supporting the USA, my country, is never easy for me. However, I will always support most individual players, especially some on this 2026 roster because we have a lot more in common. these players represent the best of us as a country, immigrants and children of immigrants who shape our intertwined culture. Pochettino was a great manager for this team and brought out the best in them, arguably one of the best usmnt rosters this country has had. this game and the event leading up to this is just an asterisk, albeit an ugly one but it must be remembered that the orange dipshit fucker in office wanted to make this about him rather than the team who (tried) to bring this country together during divisive and violent times.

Mexico2 - 3Englandincredible game between two strong contenders in what would be the last game at the most beautiful stadium of this World Cup. knockout stages are the worst and best parts of a tournament because only one team can go next but that means both teams will show their strongest moments to go to the next round. this game exemplified that and everything more. such heartbreak for mexico to lose at home after a tournament spell that made them look so positively different from roster to style but still reflects their football culture. unfortunately despite all the good changes, they still fall short again. massive props to england who came in ready to fight away from home in the most demanding places of football. while it seemed mexico has a big disadvantage with height difference, they could have also played that to their advantage with a lower center if gravity and draw fouls in the box. tuchel and england stayed true to their game plan and played the long mental game through technical tactics rather than mind games which is what mexico tried to do. subbing out quiñones was the first direction towards mexico’s defeat - if you sub out your best player who is adept at crossing and creating chances for your tallest man on the pitch (and is still shorter than some of the opponent’s roster) but continue to do the same plays for the last 20 minutes with no luck then you played right into england’s game plan too easily. congrats to england for making it out of that. as much as i despise england fanbase for getting the last word out of this game, i cannot deny that england had an absolute masterclass of a game at the azteca in World Cup 2026. POTM to Anthony Gordon who kept pushing at the right time and continued the engine for the england side. honorable mention to Bellingham for two quick goals that shook mexico and the azteca.

Boston Legacy2 - 2Bay FCbay really crumbled and ruined their own momentum. i just want to know why they do this consistently, shoot your own foot and all. what happened in the first 25 minutes need to happen the full 90. great to see fuller in the midfield - this super young midfield with high intelligence and intuition should pay off in the years to come. our defense as a team has too many holes and too lax which is how boston easily equalized the game. gg boston for taking advantage of our mistakes. some questionable reffing again and it’s kinda nice that even the commentators are now realizing that refs just don’t call shit in favor for bay when it counts the most. should’ve been a second yellow on karich for dogso and that could’ve possibly changed momentum of the game. I’ll be waiting for another stupid apology letter from the refs for that shit non call that quite clearly affected how the game could have gone. POTM to Hutton for first goal if her nwsl career + an incredible assist.

Props to barcenas for that golazo and classic celly.

Argentina’s defense is so shaky and fragile that I genuinely don’t see them going far if they keep this up. Disgusting game from enzo and macallister tbh. Didn’t like what I saw from either of them. Paredes coming in helped a bit bc if there’s anything I commend him for, he has the grit and passion the midfield needs. thank you cuti romero for saving my life 😭😭😭 and here’s my dog with no clue that i died and lived and died and lived in the last 20 minutes of this game.

very happy to be proven wrong that this game would be a snoozefest, at least for the 2nd half. Offside drama throughout, questionable penalty call, and late goals galore. Absolute heartbreak for Croatia - they definitely played their hearts out towards the end. Sad to see modric go out like that.

mid game, kinda obvious who’d win. was hoping austria would at least score one and they had a couple of good runs but their attacking plays were just too slow for spain’s younger roster. alexia putellas, salma hayek, and javier bardem cameos saved us. all 3 get POTM from me.

felt a little bit patriotic for my country today. I just can’t believe USA won a game down 10 men and one goal was from a free kick. If USA of all countries beat you like that in football, idk what else to say but I feel so sorry for you. with balogun out, it is very, very hard for me to see USA beat Belgium in ro16. Poch ball can only go so far and there isn’t another striker on the USA roster that can meet balogun’s level.

to me there is nothing better than last minute goals in football and to have 2 goals to equalize the game is simply the reason why football is the most beautiful game on earth. how terrible for Senegal to blow a 2-0 lead for 80% of the game then do a terrible tackle in the penalty box in the dying minutes of extra time. can’t imagine how the team and their fans feel. props to Belgium for finally showing up. Rather frustrating to have a team that, on paper, are technically good but struggle to perform consistently. can’t help but believe that football gods are real and that they do smite their karma onto teams someday. Senegal’s late penalty foul really felt like some karmic energy for their walk off protest at afcon. All that to say though, Senegal are a great team and hopefully they can keep up this momentum for next World Cup.
