Wolves2 - 2Blackburn
Competitive game, thought Blackburn played very well and surprised people. Had them playoff chasers myself. Wolves will still have a strong season despite the setback tonight. They just need to settle down after such a poor season, their players have too much quality to be anything but top 3. Highlight of the match goes to my prophetic comment though, I felt it minutes before the penalty.

And with that FIFA World Cup 2026 has come to an end, watched all the 104 matches and enjoyed so many. There is a lot to say about this World Cup, but let me just focus on how I feel about this final. At first, I thought I would be happy no matter who won since I support both teams. But maan this is Messi! He was my childhood, my teenage years, and now my adulthood. I wasn’t ready to witness his last World Cup dance end this way. What an awful performance from the team except for Emi he was fighting alone :( Messi was the best player in this tournament. Argentina weren’t convincing, and in almost every match we expected them to lose, but then my GOAT did what he always does. He delivered a historic performance and carried this Argentina team all the way to the final. I felt every emotion throughout these crazy matches and made so many unforgettable memories. All I wanted was for football to reward Messi with another World Cup as a gift for everything he showed in this tournament :( I couldn’t hold myself together when I saw his tears while his fans were chanting his name 🥺 Also with Licha getting injured I honestly wasn’t in the mood either, hope he makes a speedy recovery 💔 In the end, I want to say that I’m just grateful that I got to witness the Messi era.

Ah, the Men’s World Cup final, perhaps i will keep my review short this time. All 104 games watched, happy with that. I love watching this Spain side, it’s boring for most, but to me this is one of the most beautiful ways of playing football. The way they confidently pass the ball around with no fear, despite this being the biggest game for every single one of them, is just amazing. Really unfortunate to have Licha get injured, one of the best players of Argentina this tournament and so important for them. Spain had Argentina by their throats though for the first 45 minutes. 0 shots, 0 shots on target, no chances created, blah blah blah a lot of zeros for Argentina in the first half lmao. Really high intensity from a defensive perspective though of Argentina. Second half was more of the same, quite some chances for Spain but everything being shot straight at Dibu. Ref was really in control of the game though, he deserves his praises as well. What a way to fuck it up though from Enzo Fernandez, incredibly stupid challenge when you’re already on a yellow. Actual idiot. Great save from Dibu in the last minute though, good game from him. After 90 minutes 15 shots to 0 shots lmao. Argentina the first team to have 0 shots in 90 minutes of a World Cup final. Disallowed goal was weird, I’d probably agree with the ref but it was a bit weak. Weird Eric García and Zubimendi got subbed on, both had made 0 minutes all tournament. What a shot from Ferran Torres, all the slander this tournament but he does it when it matters most, incredible. Man of the match has to be Pau Cubarsí, insane performance and only 19. Lastly i really want to thank everyone who have liked my long ass reviews the past month and the kind words too, genuinely means a lot to me to be able to say everything i have to say about games and people actually reading that all ❤️❤️❤️. Club season will have more long reviews from me. Some stats in comments for those interested.

The world cup final is over. This tournament has been incredible, and this community has made it far more enjoyable. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in this incredible community. I have loved posting my penguin GIF throughout the tournament. Thank you for making posting a short clip of a penguin kicking a ball infront of a second tier spanish side's badge special. I was born in Sutton on October 7th, 2006. Just under two years later my brother was born, and a year after that we moved to South-West London, where I have lived ever since. I may not be a Castellon fan, but I am an Arsenal fan, like my brother and my parents. We sit and watch all of the matches together, unless we're at the Emirates. I was introduced to Bookd by my brother. I saw him talking on this app and it looked intriguing, so I asked him what the app was, and I downloaded it. Thank you, @elz , for introducing me to Bookd. I found the penguin GIF simply by typing "football" into the GIFs tab. I am unable to recreate this. Perhaps it was fate that I found that GIF. I am 19 years old, and entering the second year of my Games Design university course at my University in central london. I have always had a passion for games. I hope to one day unite my passions for game creation and for football. If anyone wishes to check out my work, play my newest, and by far my best game, Leviathan, at https://spitefulcurb43.itch.io/leviathan . I will continue posting my penguin GIF throughout matches, but expect me to speak actual words from time to time in the Bookd chat. This community is excellent, and recently I have been wondering what will happen after this tournament ends. I have decided we need a Discord server. Everyone is welcome to join. Here is the link: https://discord.gg/Y9Yf7NHBe Once again, thank you to Bookd's developers, community, and most of all, thank you to the gimmicks. I will be able to answer any questions you may have in the replies. And now, for the last time this WC:

and so, just like that, it ends. 104 games. staying up until the sun rises to watch our beautiful sport, because we all know these moments would never come back. last minute goals, heartbreak, triumph, relief, pain, and so many other emotions we all went through this past month; watching it with all of you made it all the more special. i don’t think my vocal chords will recover any time soon, but i wouldn’t trade it for anything. and what a world cup this has been. this is not just a game. it’s a language, a bond, a medium we all share. it doesn’t matter where you’re from, we all become united through this game called football. as beautiful as it was, the world cup is always a time to reflect on those who are no longer with us. we all carry the memories of the people who should have been sitting beside us, enjoying this tournament; this belongs to them just as much as it does to us. thank you for sharing your passion with me. now, we can all finally rest.

This game pretty much summed up both England and Argentina perfectly. Argentina played rather defensively for the most part and, one might add, very aggressively, while all England wanted was one goal, the first goal. And they even got that goal from Gordon, who was found with an absolutely delicious cross by Rogers. And then Tuchel made some baffling tweaks that just made the entire English team sit back in an extreme low block and defend for their lives for the next 40 minutes. England ended the game with six, yes, SIX defenders on the pitch. What this also causes is that if you happen to concede a goal or manage to hoof the ball out of your own penalty area, you have no attacking outlets remaining with Gordon, the only one in this English side who could exploit the Argentine defensive line with his speed, being taken off. Every single English player was behind the ball, and all Argentina had to do was pepper them with crosses and passes into the box to pin them back. The problem with this game plan is, and why it worked against Mexico and not against Argentina, is one man: Messi. You CANNOT go into that defensive of a structure without any intention of attacking with that absolute DEMON on the pitch. And once again, just like against Egypt, he stepped up, took the onus on himself in the last 20 minutes, and turned this game around pretty much single-handedly. He had able allies in Enzo and Lautaro, but pretty much 90% of everything went through Messi on the right flank, either beating his man on the outside and whipping a cross in or cutting in and playing those absolutely sublime one-twos to open up the English backline. And I can't lie, I enjoyed every minute of him running the clock back. One has to soak it in; he might only play one more game in Argentine colors. People may dislike this Argentine team, but watching Messi play at his absolute best is always a special, special thing to witness.

Falklands war 2026 colorized. A first half that did not include much football, just mostly a ton of fouls and confrontations. When they did play football it was quite even. First half saw 19 fouls and 0 shots on target. Also 3 shots in total which is the lowest in 45 minutes out of all the games this tournament. First time no shot on target in 30 minutes in all of World Cup history (last record was 29 minutes between England - Norway). Second half wasn’t as extreme as the first 45 minutes luckily. But a brilliant cross from Rogers and a good finish from Gordon was enough to open the score. Which was really needed in a game like this, because it completely opens the game for both sides to have more chances. Really really brilliant tackle from Djed Spence, for me its the tackle of the tournament. England were actually hanging on by a thread in the last 15 or so minutes and thats what killed them. Enzo Fernandez being allowed to shoot from distance and force a corner is one thing, him being allowed to do the exact same thing again without anyone marking him is genuinely a disaster. Then the second goal is just more of the same with bad defending, no one rushing to block crosses and just hoping for the best, awful. Maybe unpopular opinion but Argentina deserved this one, they took advantage of England their massive weakness here. Two more Messi assists, has g/a in each of his last 11 WC games. 12 g/a this tournament too, one more than Mbappé. First time from at least 2002 that i checked that a team ranked 1st in the FIFA rankings reached the final (or semi final for that matter) Man of the match probably just Messi, so important yet again.

Theres a WW2 history joke somewhere between Switzerland and Argentina but im too tired to think of anything funny. Switzerland without Manzambi vs Argentina with Scaloni who famously has no tactics. As someone who loves the deeper parts of the beautiful this game it is not something to necessarily look forward to. Messi is all i was really interested in, and Licha and Taglia my Ajax goats. Who would’ve thought the game went exactly as expected? At least a Messi assist so that gets all kinds of records again. Also that Embolo dive lmao, why the fuck would you do that on a yellow? What a fucking goal from Alvarez though in extra time, fucking unbelievable really. Even a third goal still from Argentina, they actually did shit for once. Messi with 10 World Cup assists now, first to reach that. Also Argentina have scored 2+ goals in 12 consecutive games. Breaking Uruguay their record of 11 between 1930 and 1954. Switzerland out but their first quarter final since 1954, i think this achievement is more than they could have ever imagined. Argentina somehow survived again, im very skeptical how they will do against England, its not looking good at all they just play so so bad. Its Messi and thats all. Man of the match Licha, hes the goat, hes the best, hes everything. 8 defcon, heatmap being everywhere, joint most dribbles completed lmao.

i don’t even know where to start with this match. i genuinely went into it expecting argentina to come out on top, so that first goal definitely rocked me. weirdly enough though, i was calm. i think seeing messi live and knowing he already has a world cup has settled something in me. even if today had been the end, i don’t think it would’ve changed what he’s already accomplished. and then football reminded me exactly why i love it so much. there’s something so beautiful about watching a team that has already won everything still fight like they have nothing. you could see the desperation grow. every tackle, every run, every chance suddenly carried so much more weight. i can’t even imagine what that stadium sounded like. even messi looked off today, but then that late goal happened. holy fuck. i’ve always said messi taught me how to believe. he taught me patience, hope and perseverance. once again, he reminded me why. i do wish scaloni had changed things earlier. i still don’t understand some of the lineup decisions. but none of that matters right now. i’d already accepted that maybe this was the end, but i’m a sucker for a fairytale. they’ve already shaken hands with greatness once. who’s to say they can’t do it again?

Switzerland

Just like that the round of 16 is over, tomorrow no World Cup game at all 💔. Tough game to talk about, there were enough things happening but end of the day it stayed 0-0 all the way. Kobel had an incredible game, Vargas did quite good too. I think both teams just played well, but none were better than each other so it stayed goalless. Or they just both were bad in front of goal, also realistic. This going all the way to penalties without any goals sure was an experience. Such a unfortunate way for Colombia to be eliminated, they had such a good tournament but even the thing that eliminated them was their only issue these past 5 games, and a important issue at that, because not being able to score really becomes a problem. They did everything well until they got into the final third. Im quite saddened that it ends here for them. Expected more from Luis Diaz this tournament though. Switzerland somehow persevered, god knows how, they haven’t been great all tournament and Kobel really bailed them out here. Either way their first quarter final since 1954 so its massive for them. Im not sure if they have a chance against Argentina at all. Also never let Akanji take a penalty again. 6/8 teams in the quarterfinals are from Europe as well lmao. Man of the match has to be Kobel, no one came close to him.

okay I’ll write a real review this time it was beautiful , well it is beautiful. to start the game with all this personality and all this fight to give hope to me and all our people was an unforgettable feeling. to not just score one but score two on the defending champions was an incredible achievement on its own. altho we lost, making it to this stage and giving the best performance I’ve ever seen is so honourable. to say that we let a 2-0 lead go is to be bitter but i don’t feel any bitterness. okay i might feel bitter to marmoush and his useless ass but as a team we made it beyond anyone thought of us. as they always say, it’s only the beginning of a beautiful african team that will be taken seriously one day. im so incredibly proud and hope all the boys feel it too. to get to the actual game, we got to comfortable after the 2nd goal. it felt to good to be true that we started to get complacent and let argentina fluke it. it stings because the referee was not kind to us. that martinez challenge should not have disallowed our goal same as the referee should’ve checked mcallistars challenge on trezeguet. BUT HEY, valiant is too little of a word to describe our efforts but as they say a match is 90 minutes. now a little personal thought is to shoutout and appreciate the standout players of our team. Mohamed Hany i don’t give a fuck what people say about the own goals, you have proven to be the best player of our squad and an insane right back, really my favourite to have watched throughout this campaign and hope you get some more recognition. Mostafa Shobir you came out the blue and i thank God you did, I didn’t want to see fuckass El Shenawy on and with you here you saved us on countless times that I see SO MUCH POTENTIAL. because im running out of words I have to appreciate the one and only Mohamed Salah. what made it all special is how you captained a local team to a world tournament. thank you egypt for the sentiment of cheering on my own country, be happy!

What the hell did I just witness ?! I am genuinely speechless. After I thought Argentina will really learn from Cape Verde’s match and do things better it turns out they learned nothing and that’s what they deserve with this performance. Really terrible build ups, the pace of their actions too slow, and it looks like they entered the game with excessive confidence and arrogance, and football never give you if you don’t give it. The last 20 minutes is the Argentina we know, everything changed and Argentina finally realized that they’re playing in the WC not in the backyard. Deserved goals when they actually started playing and that’s football when you actually give it. On the other hand, I can only give Egypt players and specifically Hossan Hassan a standing ovation with the amount of work and effort they’ve put into this tournament and especially this match. Egypt playing with justified defensive style but while attacking it’s like they know every step Argentina will do beforehand and played on that. Heartbreaking scenarios continue to shock us throughout the tournament and this time the Pharaohs are the prey. What a game with many shocking moments, but overall very enjoyable and entertaining. For the third time so far a 5 star rating match for Argentina.. 🇦🇷🇪🇬

I had this beautiful thing written down but then Argentina suddenly won the game again so thats great, all my hard work gone just like that. Where do you even begin? Egypt was incredible for 70 minutes, and after that they just fumbled it. Pressure got to them perhaps, but it’s a generational collapse. For Argentina to still win is just absurd after all that, they did not deserve it at all, but ball don’t lie. Messi is just him at the end of the day. I don’t care what FIFA — or what presidents of countries do, they cannot destroy what makes football beautiful. Games like these are the ones you remember for a damn long time. Absolutely heartbreaking for Egypt because they fought so so so hard, but they couldn’t do it for the 90 minutes. But Argentina can’t go on like this, they look so clueless whenever Messi plays poor and it only looks good when he works his magic. Scaloni isn’t even a fraud because everyone knows he has no tactics, it is ran on vibes. Messi does have the most assists ever in the World Cup now, and also scored for 9 world cup games straight now, also the first to score in 6 consecutive knockouts games with a goal, despite having one of the poorest games in a while. And his 21st goal of course bringing him to 30 G/A on the WC. Most insane stat is that Argentina lost their previous 13 games when they were trailing by two goals, but not today. Also first time a player missed two penalties on a single World Cup tournament without penalty shootouts #recordbreaker. Perhaps the best game, i don’t know anymore this world cup is blessing me with too many good games. Man of the match Messi because even when he’s bad he ends on 2 g/a.

Fuck Ronaldo, for the last time this tournament that i have to say that. Not a goal fest but enjoyable regardless, huge chance for Oyarzabal early in the game that should’ve been a goal. Also a great save from Diogo Costa. Couple of chances for Ronaldo too but nothing too crazy. Love myself some last minute winners though, Mikel Merino is just so good in those kind of situations, just knows where to be at what time. I can just continue my agenda on hating Roberto Martinez because he’ll never do anything useful. Yet again i ask for his coaching license to be taken away and gifted to me, id do a better job with this Portugal team. Theres no tactic or strategy at all, just go make sure Ronaldo gets an opportunity thats it. No wonder the PSG Portuguese are lost because they are used to an elite manager. Maybe Portugal will be better in two years, or four years, that depends when Ronaldo leaves. One of the best teams in the world but Ronaldo makes this team useless. Also bye bye Ronaldo. I will also say again, after i already did after the Austria game, that this midfield of Rodri, Pedri, and Olmo doesn’t work. They are all too far away from each other leaving Pedri all alone and unable to do what he does best. Fraudulent behavior from DLF. Baena is just rough, but if Nico Williams was fit he wouldn’t be playing at all. Cubarsí was yet again so mature in that defense. USA or Belgium next so should be a slightly easier game for Spain. Man of the match Rodri for me, he put in a shift and a half today. Most touches, 13 progressive passes, 6 defcon too.

Now that’s what you call entertainment !! Just when you thought the match ended it turns out that it just got started, Wow wow wow. Everything happened in the first half, when Mexico were pressing they conceded a goal, and when Mexico wanted to start again, they conceded right after and we all thought the game was done. Then Quinones re-introduced himself once again. The second half wasn’t less than the first, and it started with direct red to Quansah, then we again thought now it’s Mexico’s time, so England were given a penalty and scored. I swear I got tired even writing this. Constant Mexican pressure got them a penalty and then the real war started. Unfortunately for Mexico their crosses weren’t efficient due to fatigue, and fair play to England for holding their ground with 10 men against a very good Mexican team that could’ve ended their dreams. Arguably best game of the tournament so far.. 🇲🇽🏴

Game of the tournament nothing comes even close what the actual fuck. Jude Bellingham proving me wrong and Jordan Pickford proving me wrong. Theres so much to say. A great start to the game, very close to each other, but Jude getting two great goals within 90 seconds of each other. Mexico scoring the 2-1 quickly after too to get into half time. Second half was so violent honestly, fair read for Quansah id say as well. Two penalties, one for each team to keep it 2-3. The moment Quiñones was subbed off it was kinda it for Mexico though, very strange decision. Gotta give credit to England, even though i called it after my Mexico - Ecuador review as well. England just have much more quality against a team that doesnt sit back. Obviously wasnt like that all game because of the red card. But the passion after that from all the subs as well was incredible, they put their lives on the line and thats something you only see in international football. Only 33% possession lmao. First team to beat Mexico at the Azteca in a World Cup game too. Its a unfortunate ending for a excellent Mexico this tournament, but they can still be happy i think all things considered, especially with someone like Mora being even better in 4 years. Having this World Cup classic at the Azteca made it a absolute 20/10 its not even close, my favorite World Cup game of all time. Ref was also great this game to keep a chaotic match in check. England - Norway will be a banger. Man of the match gotta be Jude though he was great, but honestly all of them were excellent. Just wow honestly this is what football is about.

WHAT A GAME.... WOW Cape Verde proved those that said 48 teams was a mistake completely wrong. They were an absolute joy. Playing out from the back better than some Premier League teams, phenomenal. They deserved so much more, I have no words that they lost this game. Vozinha was unbelievable, again. Every single one of those Cape Verde players should be unbelievably proud. The fans should be inspired, younger generations will look at this and think "I can become a footballer at the top level". I tip my hat off too them for pushing the WORLD CHAMPIONS to their max. That second goal was a thing of beauty, one of the best goals I have seen at this stage. Even more special from the country who scored it. I thought Argentina were poor, they heavily relied on a Messi masterclass. Yes, they had a lot of chances and Vozinha was great, but that's football. You don't always deserve the win for being dominant, especially considering the gap in quality between both squads. But that quality pushed them over the line in the end, so fair play to them for not fully crumbling under the pressure. Wow, I will remember this game for the rest of my life, genuinely unbelievable. Well done to Cape Verde for being a true joy to watch. Congratulations to Argentina for pushing over the line.
