Gillingham2 - 0Tranmere

- We might be back - First half was very even with a couple chances for both sides but nothing major. - Gills really came into their own in the second half especially after the introduction of McCleary - A great delivery from Hale was headed home by one of our own in Logan Dobbs for his first EFL goal - It was Hale scoring the second as he anticipated the movement of the ball brilliantly to get on the end of a great ball from McCleary to make it 2-0 - Injuries continue to be a problem with Waldock getting injured early in the second half and then Hale getting injured slipping over after Scoring - Overall a massive positive performance and good to build on the Rochdale performance. - Motm a toss up between Hale and Dobbs. (Player ratings for Gills included dc about Tranmere to rate)
Union Berlin1 - 3Schalke 04

- Simply not good enough from a Union perspective - Defensively poor all night and very lucky Rønnow is as good as he is - failed to create much at all in the first half - Second half Union created a lot more after the second Schalke goal and they sat off but failed to be clinical with Karius making some big saves - as for Schalke it was a good strike from gosens and aouchiche took his goal well. - Skarke pulled one back and then wober wrapped it up on the counter - Union need to be so much better if they want to have a good season.

Schalke 04
Arsenal2 - 1Chelsea

- Arsenal found a way to win as they so often have done of recent. - Chelsea got off to the best possible start through Rogers - But Arsenal came back with a goal from havertz which Martinez will be disappointed with - Odegaard found the goal that proved to be the winner early in the second half - Arsenal proved that they are definitely still the team to chase and proved that Chelsea still have some work to do to reach that level

Arsenal
Everton2 - 2Man United

- An enjoyable game which Everton definitely deserved something out of - a first half of a few chances but no one was able to show the clinicality needed - Mbeumo found the breakthrough early in the second half with a good finish on the edge - George leveled with a great strike - Sesko looked to have won it - But a wonder strike from maitland Niles on debut got his side a deserved point

Everton
Schalke 040 - 0Bayern

- Forced to watch this snooze fest by zel - Bayern rested their key men and it showed in the first half creating very little - Bayern brought on the big boys in the second half but still failed to break the resolute S04 Defence - phenomenal point for the home side

Schalke 04
Newcastle2 - 2Bournemouth

- lively game with a lot of goals - Bournemouth by the far the better team in the first half and deservedly went into half time 2-1 up - Newcastle came out better and always looked the more likely to score in the second half and found the goal late on through Ramsey - Tavernier was shooting for fun and looked a danger throughout the game and was MOTM for me

Bournemouth
Chesterfield1 - 1Gillingham

- First half Gills were woeful, chesterfield completely dominated and could have scored multiple if it wasn’t for Wright in goal - Good finish from koroma for chesterfields goal but Freeman just stared at him and didn’t fancy putting a foot in, truly dreadful defending. Having a wing back who is slow and can’t defend isn’t fun I beg Tabares gets fit so I don’t have to watch it anymore. - Second half was better from Gills but still spent majority on the back foot and had to soak up the pressure. - The goal came from Hale battling and forcing an error out of Simpson to get into the position to shoot which then deflected of Hutton (🫵😂) and found the back of the net - Ollie wrights goalkeeping performance single handily earnt gills a point. - Overall, once again not good enough desperately need to improve or it’s gonna be a very long season.

Accrington ST

- Snooze fest - Boring Arsenal strike again - sloppy defending for the goal but calafiori did well and saka was in the right place - Suzuki looked good in the villa goal

Arsenal
Chelsea4 - 3Brighton

- Chelsea attack once again looked quality but same issues with looking shaky at the back - Joao Pedro in the form of his life despite the own goal - Palmer looking back to his best - Early on it looked like it would be a battering but Brighton found a way to make a game out of it - Yalcouye took his goal very well and looked good overall - Brightons issue was same as Chelsea being poor at the back - Verbuggen very poor for the opener dropping the ball into the path of lavia - Emi Martinez definitely an upgrade on Sanchez and made some good saves not too much he could’ve done about the goals

Chelsea
Gillingham1 - 1Northampton

- Two poor teams - Gillingham the slightly better of the two team but once again failed to take our chances outside of the goal - Apparently the game doesn’t need to be stopped for head injuries anymore and that led to northamptons goal - Hale hit the post again it’s got to go in eventually - Northampton looked very poor - Wormleighton got hooked after 27 minutes without an injury that’s quite impressive - Hoskins has piled on the pounds

Gillingham
Crystal Palace1 - 4Man City

- City looked much improved from last week - Cherki playing from the start showed his quality wonderful performance from him. The first goal from him was magic. - Haaland looked back to his normal self taking his 2 goals well - Foden missed some big chances and his finishing was poor overall but did well to get 2 assists the second one for Haaland was good from him. - Palace looked poor overall - Wharton and Kamada in the middle I thought played well but aside from them two it was a poor palace performance. - Pino’s free kick for the goal was a brilliant hit despite the fortunate way it went in off Donnarumma.

Man City
Newcastle3 - 2West Brom

- very interesting game - West Brom looked very good and offered a lot of threat - Newcastle had the extra quality in order to get over the line - Harvey Barnes provided the difference

Newcastle
Fulham2 - 3Chelsea

- a very fun game of football to watch - Chelsea’s front 3 looked electrifying and I’m looking forward to watching them throughout the season - However defensively chelsea looked shaky - Rob Sanchez will be the reason Chelsea fail to have a challenge for the title as shown by his performance - Fulham looked okay but the two goals both come from Sanchez errors and outside of that they didn’t oppose too much threat

Chelsea
Newcastle2 - 2Liverpool

- Great Pen from Szoboszlai to bail out Liverpool - Newcastle looked very good under Jaissle. Elanga especially looked frightening as well as Osula looking good - Great strike from Gakpo got Liverpool back into it

Newcastle
Eintracht Braunschweig2 - 4Union Berlin

- Very valiant effort from Braunschweig and caused a lot of problems especially with the goals that came early on in each half - Both goals coming from Max Marie and both taken well looked a real class act (sign him up Union) - Union’s quality eventually showed despite early shakiness - First two goals from set pieces bit poor defensively from the hosts - Ljubicic with a brace off the bench to seal the game and a place in round 2 - Life under Lustrinelli starts with a win but not the ideal performance
Eintracht Braunschweig
Man City2 - 1Bournemouth

- City looked poor for a large portion of the game but found a way to get the win - Cherki the game changer off the bench do not understand why he was benched - Bournemouth should feel hard dumb by but you’ve got to see games like that out

Man City
West Brom3 - 1Burnley

- West Brom did very well to come back from behind after conceding a goal which probably shouldn’t have stood due to a blatant foul in the build up - Price’s first the pick of the goals and overall he was brilliant - Burnley clearly missed flemming - West Brom look like a very good side

West Brom
Brentford3 - 0Tottenham

- 300 million pound spending Spurs look no different need those attacking signings in ASAP as they were pony - Brentford truly brilliant all round and were the better team from minute 1 - Spurs defensively poor - Kinsky looked calamitous I expect they will turn to experience of Dubravka at some point in the season as Kinsky looks below par. - Many standout performances from Brentford none more so than Sangare on debut as he was remarkable.

Brentford
Hull City2 - 0Man United

- Mauled by the Tigers - Hull brilliant in the first half and defended brilliantly from then on out. - United completely toothless and embarrassing to concede from 2 set pieces. - 2 goals coming from Hull’s centre backs but thought the best of the 3 was the one without the goal John Egan who defended brilliantly MOTM for me.

Hull City
Arsenal3 - 0Coventry

- Arsenal showed their quality early on in the game and proved they are levels above Coventry - Dull second half after the third goal as Arsenal just comfortably saw it out - As for Coventry starts to premier league life do not get much harder and I wouldn’t take too much from their performance. - Simms especially struggled and awoniyi was a large improvement when he came on so expect him to start vs Hull - Arsenals left hand side looked frightening with Tzolis and Calafiori - Once again the team to beat

Arsenal
Sheffield Wednesday0 - 1Bradford

- Pecked by the Chickens - Very typical Graham Alexander side performance. - Wednesday on top all of the first half created a lot but didn’t take their chances - Bradford brilliant defensively first half then took their chance early in the second and controlled the game from then - Aden Baldwin colossal at the back and took his goal well. Clear man of the match

Bradford
Cardiff1 - 1Wrexham

- Last Minute Magic from Rubin Colwill - Cardiff were knocking it around the edge of wrexhams box near on the whole of the second half but lacked creativity - Wrexham defended brilliantly the whole game doyle and hyam especially but gave away a silly free kick at the last minute - Big Kieffer doing what he does best and Wrexham lost a lot of control when he went off

Wrexham
Burnley2 - 2West Ham

- West Ham bottle but Burnley deserved something - Flemming doing what he does best - Scarles looked good including clearing one off the line but then gave a brain dead pen away. - Kilman goal on the timeline

Burnley
Watford2 - 1Southampton

- Very Enjoyable game lots of chances for both teams - Harwood Bellis with a shocking miss in the final moments - Nabizada moved me with a brilliant goal - Watford looked very good going forward early on and then solid defensively late on. - Saints need to get the spy back out if they want to be any good

Watford
Plymouth2 - 0Exeter City

Very little action until late on

Plymouth
Wolves2 - 2Blackburn

Good Advert for the EFL

Blackburn
